merchant marine scam

I just wanted to inform the other members here to beware of the latest scam that was just brought to my attention, The MERCHANT MARINE SCAM! Anyone here being contacted beware and don't waste your time because if you do you will be burned! If the moderators feel this is off topic feel free to delete.

 

whats the scam?

 

There are variations; on an oil rig, deployed in the mid east, etc.

 

My son just got an offer on his Harley. Buying for my son, I'm at sea, will do paypal and send my movers. Son told him to give his son the money and he could come pay cash. Haven't heard from him since.

 

They offer to buy and want your paypal info.

 

Its an old scam, still going strong. Yes, beware.

 

been around for a long time, I remember there being many topics on this.

 

I got a new spin, dude told me he was an oceanographer and he of course was gone to the west coast and would send shipper blah blah blah.
