    Yes I have.

In one Christmas parade, I was given a Santa Claus outfit to wear while I drove my Nomad

My cover was blown when some grade school girls who were in my son's class shouted out, "Hey, there's David's dad!"

Been in many parades over the years, it's always fun unless you get put behind a team of horses that are dropping 'Meadow muffins'

The small town ones are the most fun, in my opinion.

Most fun parade I drove in was when I was about 8-9 years old. Dad let me drive his Model A street rod. Idles along at about parade speed, and he kept his foot near the brakes just in case.
All sorts of kids up and down the route shouting and mad that I wasn't old enough to be driving.

Yep, once. Me and the wife were in a cruising group in the early 2000's. The whole group was invited to be in a 4th of July parade by a little town about 50 miles away. We drove down the little Main Street strip and waved back at all the folks. Pretty cool actually.

    Yes.

Word to the wise. Make sure your car doesn't overheat.
You might be idling along for the better part of 2 hours!

I did one once in this small farm town about 60 miles west of Spokane. My kids and I had alot of fun throwing candy out the windows at all the kids. It's funny to see a different aspect of a parade, sitting a block away all lined up with everyone else waiting in line and talking about cars. This one was only about 5 blocks long, so after hanging out for an hour or so, it took all of about 5 minutes to get from beginning to end. Like I said, fun time though, I'd do it again.

Yeah, our group was parading on a near 100 degree day (July 4th). Several of the cars that were really cammed up and such kept loading up the plugs, and two had to pull off to the side for overheating.

Just hope it's not too hot....slow moving means no air. Did one on July 4th years back in a black 55 chevy with black interior (no AC of course)...about 96 outside and I was glad when I hit the open road at the end....

Yes the POW Bucket is called out quite often and sometimes set up on display in honor of our veterans. I don't have a true "show car" as I was told at the T-Bucket nationals a couple years ago by a member but hey I built it myself to drive and enjoy and then transformed it to honor the troops. It's all in the heart and what you like. Just enjoy the ride and the looks.

    Your roadster looks great.

I notice that in the picture, none of the other spectators (kids and ladies) are looking at your car except the older guy sitting on the grass...but he's got a big grin...lol.

THIS! And my experience with a horse that got nervous and was doing "wheelies". He came real close to dropping a steel shoed hoof onto the hood of my Plymouth.

So, in '94 or so I was working at a Craft/Hardware shop in Alamogordo, New Mexico selling sewing machines with my company. It was the week before Christmas, and I had driven the Plymouth from Phoenix loaded to the gills with sewing machines (23, if I remember correctly) and my luggage for the week, and now it was parked outside the store on the outskirts of town. Friday afternoon, about three o'clock, some youngish guys kinda slinked in and talked to the gal at the front counter, and she pointed at me. They waited very patiently for me to finish working with a customer and said "we're from the low rider club in town, and we saw your car out side, wanna join our club in the Christmas parade tonight?" Hell yes I do!!! That was one of the most fun car night I ever had!

Another time ElPolacko and I were heading to Day of the Drags in Temple Texas. He was in the then freshly painted green truck, and I was in his dad Len's freshly finished channeled Model "A" coupe, (Hubcap's car on the H.A.M.B. now). we also had his then brand new girlfriend with us on her very first hot rod road trip, and had so far proceeded to freak her out by fixing minor mechanical breakdowns and such very nonchalantly. So, we get to Ozona, Texas, just about 5:00 pm on Friday night, gas up and start to turn back out to the freeway, when all of a sudden, we are stuck in their high school home coming parade! as the last floats and tractors pass us, they all yell for us to join the parade...So we did what any other reasonable folks would do 800 miles from home and did! Freaked Lorna out just a little bit more!!!

Parades are a lot of fun. I have driven a restored Model A Ford in several and one time an AA. The only bad thing was that it was hard on the clutch as you generally are stop and go during the parade and of course going very slow when moving.

Yes ,a few times a year. All small towns, but several hundred people come out. Sometimes the Lincoln, sometimes one of the other oldies. Lots of fun and it promotes the hobby. A few weeks ago our group "paraded thru the old folks home lot during their bbq nite.. Jack

Great pics ct1932...looks like a great turnout too. Weather permitting (snow, salt, sand) I do the Maynard X-Mass parade in Mass. on the 1st weekend in Dec. with my Dad. They get thousands of people lining Main st.

The only parade that I ever drove in was the Avondale High School Homecoming Parade in 1966. Bailey and I went to South West Dekalb High School but had decided to cruise Avondale and watch the Parade.
My 39 Chevy 2-dr was still a 6 at the time, the SBC came later. The battery cover in the passenger floor board was accessible and my battery was on the firewall.
We parked on a side street to watch the Parade and the Girls and eventually there was a break in the Parade Line. I cranked the Old Chevy and proceeded to join the Parade.
All was well, until Bailey pulled the battery cover up and began to drop live Cherry Bombs through the hole in the floor. Suddenly the Parade came to a stop and the Avondale City Police offered us an escort to the city limit line. Guess we were Lucky that an escort was all we got that day. Could have been worse.
That cured me from entering Parades uninvited. We still laugh at that one..... Jeff

I've drove a borrowed off topic vehicle in a parade once. Much like Ken05k I found the stick shift to be a bit of a pain for a parade route-- was nice on the open road though!
drove many other times pulling a float - much nice with an automatic. - L7

Back around 2006-7? at the Milwaukee mile, the promotor asked the "losers car club" for cars, took my highboy roadster, for a parade to haul indy car drivers for promo on greenfield ave to track. they fed us, had Paul Revere and the Raiders for enterment, all in all, very kool day, meeting drivers, band, food and beer. Great Day. John

  29. Being from the Valley that supplies a lot of the world with it's supply of hops (mmm, beer) we have a small town style "Hop Festival" in Moxee. Not sure if they still do the parade but I used to ride my Z50 Honda in it. Thought I was pretty damn cool getting to ride down Main Street, and for once not have the local cop (yes, cop- as in singular) chase me.
Otherwise, they can be brutal, loping along at very slow speeds, working your clutch knee and watching the temperature gauge.
