That passage he wrote about rolling it out of the garage as most of his neighbors slept peacefully, and being in the front seat of a roller coaster merging at speed onto the freeway are what really sealed the deal for me as a kid... There was no other choice BUT to be a hot rodder.

  2. Does Jake still own the Niekamp; if not, who does?

Peterson Motor Museum bought it some time ago, whether they still own it I do not know

  6. Greetings All.
Update on the NieKamp: I received a very nice email from the Peterson Museum informing me the NieKamp is still there but not on display at this point. They have what they call a vault tour which many of the cars not on display can then be seen, but no plans at present to put the NieKamp out on display. The ass't curator did say that during the AMBR season, the NieKamp might be displayed.

X2, the early '70s restoration articles in R&C were one of the factors that initially really sparked my interest in period hot rods.

I still have an Essex frame for my version of the Niekamp roadster. Since I'm hitting 65 this year I'll have to pass it on to my kids to fulfill my hotrod dream.
