This lousy pic is the only one I have on my phone. The view is from the inside of the car where the seat is located looking into the trunk. The tank is from TANKS and us built very well and fits nicely. It's the 13 gallon universal square tank. The filler neck is aces sable, but I may wind up going to an external flip top cap at a later point. I will try to get some better photos for you.

RCI tank installed behind steel bulkhead. The amo boxes are actually custom made battery boxes. Filler on tank is custom made from heavier metal to avoid leakage that I hear they are prone to. Tank sits on steel support frame and has straps going over tank to hold it in place.

I'm building a 30 Sport Coupe with a 4" kick in the rear of the frame, had to build a new floor. Using the Tanks tank, a friend has had one in a Deuce for years.

I like the brackets you have to hold the tank in place.

I used (I think) a Datsun B210 tank from the bone yard in the back of the 28 in my avatar.
Since it was to be a working rumble seat I had to get it up close behind the seat, and also I didn't want to cut a fill hole in the body. Keep in mind I did this back in 1982 and all the fancy stuff wasn't available then. The tanks sits in a plywood box anchored to the sub floor and vented outside, with a aluminum cover over it to keep the kids feet from kicking it. I have two sons who were 8 and 10 at the time who rode back there.

The ends of the tank have a flange on them with holes drilled through them. There is a set of plates that have corresponding holes in them as well. The plates go on top of the flange and then are bolted through the floor sheet metal essentially sandwiching the flange between the plate and the floor. I used 3/8" bolts (4 per side) , largest washers I could find and lock nuts. The tank seems to be held in very securely and also has a very neat and clean appearance. I will try to take some pics tonight.

Those are extra because the tank is tall, it also has. 4 bottom bolts.

Don't know about Tanks, tanks, but RCI has two flanges welded to each end of the tank but caution you that they are for locating purposes only and should not be relied on for mouting. Straps should be used over the tanks.

My tank sits on two 1 x 2 crosspieces and a 1 x 1 crosspiece welded together into a sub frame. The subframe is bolted to the subrails with re-inforcment straps on the underside. The tabs on the end of the tank can be seen at the rear left corner (bolt head and fender washer). The two black 2" wide metal straps go over the tank and are bolted to the subframe front and back with 5/16 bolts. The tank is cushioned underneath and under the retaining straps with webbing. Maybe overdone a bit.

The brackets at each end of the tank are part of the battery mounts. Lift the batteries level with the floor over the axle and with the top of the gas tank.

Very cool. I actually have this exact tank in my Studebaker, I only used the tabs to mount it under the car (BIG MISTAKE) They ended up breaking after a few years, luckily only ones side broke and I caught it before it fell all the way out! I ended up building a frame that it now sits in.

My roadster tank is a steel "tanks" which this system could work for as well... thanks

I'm using the same universal tank from "Tanks" as edcodesign. I bought this tank from "Yogi's" like 2 1/2 years ago. Note that these tanks are imported, and the older tanks like mine had the fuel line bung & pickup tube soldered in place. After logging in 90 miles and struggling to get the car to start if it sat for a week, noticed that the solder joint had cracked, wiggled the fuel line and the bung popped right out. I was sucking air, every time I tried to start the car. Called "Yogi's" and they said they had had a problem as such, and have changed to a bolt in pickup. I couldn't believe it, but they sent me a new tank, no charge. Other than the poor solder job, it's a nice tank for the price. "Yogi's" will continue to be a preffered vendor for me. :)

i had to add a extention to the filler tube, and the battery will not be staying there.

Here are some better pictures. I lied it's 3 bolts on each side holding it in but you get the idea.

This is a great thread. I plan to make a tank that is wide as possible and as tall as possible to sit as close as possible to the back of the seat. I believe that by doing it this way, it may only have to be a few inches front to back and yet hold a lot of fuel and can serve as a divider between seat and trunk.

That sounds ideal. Any updates on this manyolcars?.
'Tanks' from Devin's pic looks great. If it could be taller & skinier, that would be even better for using a rumble seat or trunk storage.
    Keep 'em comin. Pics please
