The Tucker was Glass? What power did it have? I saw it driving around and just thought it was real.

  2. Yes it was glass but it did look very cool to see it cruising on the salt. Not sure of exact engine but it was on a 80s Pontiac chassis if I remember right.

SBC....I was talking to the guy that made it. He made 4 of them for a movie, not the Tucker movie. 3 were actually rear engine. The one he had at Bonneville had a front engine SBC. He said that car was just a shell for movie scenes.

The Pontiac Parisienne-based Tucker was used in the movie "Sin City II" due out some time next year. It wasn't representative of the quality of any of the builds of Rob Ida Concepts so it was just a leftover movie car. He came up with the idea of recycling it to tow the Gyronaut since the Gyronaut was first conceived fifty years ago at SpeedWeek 1963.

Both the Gyronaut and the Tucker were designed by Alex Tremulis and the Gyronaut was restored by Rob Ida with the help of Sean and Mike Tucker, Preston Tucker's great-grandsons. Also, Rob Ida's grandfather had signed up as an original Tucker dealer in Yonkers, NY. So it's been the current generations of the Tuckers, Idas and Tremulis' all teaming up together to bring back their parents', grand-parent's, and great-grandparent's dreams of the car and its legacy back to Bonneville. All were on hand including the Gyronaut's original rider, Bob Leppan, to kick off SpeedWeek 2013 at the Driver's Meeting last Saturday. It was both history restored and history in the making. There's more Tucker fun planned for Bonneville next year...

  7. It was cool to see this one cruising but im not sure I would dig seeing fiberglass Tucker racecar at Bonneville. Not sure if that is one of the surprises but it kind of sounds like it.

  8. Naw, most of those same cars are in the pits anyway w/o the power parking.
