How soft a compound are these tires? Are they the L8 compound like the Mickey Thompson ET Drags?

I'd love to get some if they hook up at the track as good as they look!

The website has the sizes. Says they can be turned in for blackwalls.

  5. Thats cool to know that M/T makes them ! ! ! They should hook just like one of there tires, since the are . A kid here at my work has the small ones on a 62 chevy 2 door with a mystery motor, but it wouldnt peel out with regular radials so i wouldnt judge by that.

Well,....Here is just a part of the shipment of 10.00-15" tires THAT AREN'T.

The truck pulled up to our facility, opened the doors and our jaws dropped..
the factory built and shipped us 7.75-15"s instead of our order of 10.00-15" tires!!! The investment in a run of tires like this is not cheap, and it looks like we will have to eat these since we have an exclusive deal with M/T.

We put a call in to M/T and they admitted screwing up and they have pulled current production on all tires at the factory in order build us our run of 10.00-15" and will gaurantee them to be finished and shipped on November 7th.

We apologize folks, but sometimes we have no control over things like this when trying to offer a top quality product and have to rely on other companies to come through for us.

For everyone on our pre-order list who have been waiting and cannot possibly hold out any longer, We will happily refund your money.

However if you CAN hold out until November 7th we will be happy to offer you free shipping.

Again we apologize for any inconvenience and regret any trouble or delays in your current projects.

On an up-note, we do have PLENTY of 7.75-15" tires in stock.
We are having what you would call an overstock sale.
We are offering these tires for the low low price of $185.00 per tire vs the regular $225.00 per tire for hambers.

    specs are
    26.5"-27" Tall
    7" Foot print
    8.5"-9" section width
    fits on a 15x5.5" up to a 15x8" wheel.

These are fully D.O.T. approved tires, they have a distinctive crossed flag tread. This is not a "gimmick" tire!!!, There were 3-4 similer tires available that we can date back to around 1963 until around 1968, so this is a very nostalgic look.

Originally designed as a "stock replacement" tire, meaning this tire will fit alot of vehicles without modifications and still give you that agressive drag/super stock look.
    55-57 chevys
    62+ novas
    Falcons
    Corvettes
    fairlanes
impalas, and the list goes on..

    thanks,
    Jason

I just called (3 hours ago?) and ordered a pair based on your original post

the person that took my order said they would ship today,
aparantly he had not seen the tires..?

    I ordered a pair of 10x15s with (4) grooves,
I would wait till the 7th if it meant free shipping

2" white on one side blackwall on the other, if you HAVE to have complete blackwalls we can tire black them out for you at no extra charge.

    thanks,

You should probaly change the name of this thread. As to "Update.. tires will not be shipped today" saves the confusion.

Are these rated the same way as other MT slicks? Do they have a compound rating?

Their website says that they are 4 ply sidewalls, tubeless. They are not recaps.

I called Jason, ordered 8.20's and got them in a total of 4 days, counting weekends, with 4 grooves.

This has nothing to do with this post, other than to say I am very pleased with Jason and the service I got.

  20. Well hell, all this m*** confusion calls for a sale on the 8.20's for a one time low price of $100 a tire plus free shipping, Dont it ? ? ? Man i been wanting to order some for a while but havent coughed up the money, Its almost worth ordering the wrong (smaller) size to save the coin. I still havent heard the answer to what kinda compund, is it that super top secret ? ?

  21. Who owns M/T, now that they shot Mickey and his wife to death to fascilitate a sale?

Compound on the 8.20-15 and 10.00-15 are a harder compound, like a slick from the mid 60's. They run wonderful on the street and last forever, however if you are going to race you need to heat them up alot, or use VHT track bite, We have had alot of good reports with guys using the trackbite,
Even a few guys who can get these 4 ply sidewalls to wrinkle! now thats some traction becuase these sidewalls ARE STIFF!

The 7.75-15s however are a bit softer compound, and the tread design helps them bite, but with still getting away with full D.O.T. approval.

Any other questions, please dont hesitate to ask!
    Thanks,
    Jason

  25. You should listen to Ryan, your sizes are still wrong:confused: Plus, they had gimmicks in the 60s, if there is no real point to the flags, it was merely a marketing GIMMICK.

Dont get me wrong, I appreciate your efforts, just look at what has been given to you as feedback on slicks and even WWWs in these posts.

you said you can make whitewalls into blackwalls, do you actually vulcanize rubber over the whitewall, or?

can you possibly pull off some skinny whitewalls? i could use some cheater slicks, something that has some hook, but want a pinner whitewall!:D

  27. I always black out the letters on my bf ta's so you can see them on the inside with a little shake and spray ! ! ! So . . . Tman, are you to wanting something in the 235/75/15 or even better yet the L78-15 size. I have coker L 78 on the back of my 57 and man they are perfect, if only they could match up to the 468ci in it. Any chance on a new size bieng reborn. Does anyone have any old adds with all the original tire sizes or specs from the 60's I cant say what sizes were right or not, as i didnt come along until '80 but it sure seems there was alot taller tire as tall as the 8.20 with the width of the 7.75, I would buy a few sets, along with others around here

  28. Do you have any 7.75s without the goofy flag tread?

I sincerely appreciate your willingness to listen and respond here. The HAMB can be a harsh place for business owners.

I think a general consensus is that a 235/75/15 sized whitewall, piecrust slick THAT HOOKS UP would be a big seller. Some guys are more interested in the perfect size, some in the whitewall, and others in the performance. Meaning, I'd buy 10" whitewall piecrusts if they were a real soft compound. Ryan seems more interested in the "golden size".

We're hard to please, no doubt. But I think that there is a good market here for that tire. You're really pretty close. Real close on the size with some, and it sounds like the short tire hooks up decent. Combine those with a little tweak, and away you go.

I know this isn't really what you want to hear, with the over stock the MT sent you, and more on the way. I'm just tryin to help you, help us, help you.:)
