I have new white tuck n roll seats and I'm thinking of throwing a couple old mexican blankets on them to keep them clean (I know, original idea huh!). Before I do this, has anyone had any problems with the colors bleeding onto the seats? I would hate to have permanent die stains on the seats.

i would bet that they do bleed. If not from the possibility of water, i bet the sitting on an moving around would rub the color onto the vinyl. I would do simple white blankets. Maybe even those velour. I seem to recal an old velour cover on my '64. maybe they were cool at one time.

Just wash the blankets a couple times and put a white sheet down first.

yeah, i washed mine a few times before putting them in and have had no trouble

  6. If you soak them in sal****er first then wash it sets the color. I know this from ponchos in the 80s!

Utah isn't exactly known for it's dampness or high humidity, so as previously posted, wash it a couple of times as insurance, and you won't have any problemos ... :)

Only if you got a sweaty ****... :D Sorry, seemed funny at the time. Just put an insulator between them like upholstery foam or vinyl. Glue the foam to the blanket before installing. If you wash the blanket first in warm water it's a lot less likely to bleed, but you'll loose some of the color. There are wool rugs available too if you ever get down to Ensenada and do the shopping crawl after leaving Hussong's Cantina.

Yuh, put on nice seat covers then cover them up....
**** unless you have a trailer queen just wear clean clothes.

  11. My wife uses vinegar and water to set colors. Do a web search.

  12. Old blankets should not be a problem. New ones like in never washed new ones may bleed but old ones should be fine.

No trailer queen, just new interior. Nothing wrong with wanting to take some small measures to protect it. And sometimes clean clothes just aren't in the cards....

Aren't you glad you asked Big Mac ?????
I agree with you on just protecting them most of the time..
I mean it isn't like you bought a new car then immediately put those dumb *** plastic seat covers on it to save the nice interior for the next guy, like was done back in the late (50's) and (60's) ....Remember those things...a real HOT idea (literally in the summer) and full of static too.....
I do agree I would not buy new ones...find some used ones or do as mentioned above to set the dye..

Help me out here, why would you spend all that money to put all white interior in your car and then want to cover it up with cheap *** striped blankets. Don't make good sense to me. I have had more than a couple hot rods with white interior and set in them sweatin' my *** off in jeans and no stains that wouldn't wipe off.

Not covering it all up. Just throwing a blanket in there to sit on to protect it. I guess I'm not as ******** as you, bare-***ing it in texas in your new white interior. Good hell folks! It's just a blanket on the seat!

White Cotton Towels !!! Large Ones !!! When you get where you are going, roll them up and show off your new white interior................ Jeff

  26. Nice thick terry cloth towels, hose them down with Fabreeze, it'll soak up all your *** juice and leave those pretty white seats clean and odor free. Frustrate the hell out of the seat sniffing s*** that waste the day going to car shows!
