After years of procrastinating I'm gonna make it to the roadster show next year. I found a place that looked nice (Comfort Inn on South Garey) but a review said it was in a rough neighborhood? Does anyone have any recommendations for lodging in the Pomona area for the 50th LA Roadster Show. Thank you for any advice.
I've stayed there many times and I really don't find the neighborhood too rough, others might disagree though. The Holiday inn Express at Diamond Bar is about ten minutes away from the fairgrounds and is very nice and not too expensive. The Shilo in at Diamond bar isn't quite as nice ad probably more expensive. These is a Sheraton Hotel at I-10 and vineyard in Ontario that is very nice as well.
In san Dimas On Arrow Highway at the 57 fwy there is a Red Roof Inn. Just down the street is Holiday Inn Express. On Bonita near The Early Ford Store there is Extended Stay America and Best Western. All of these are in good neighborhoods and 10 minutes from the Fairplex
could not find 2014 info but, info on 2013: www.laroadsters.com/shownews.html on this page is a long list of places to stay. yep, if you got bucks to burn stay at the Sheraton at the Fairplex. will be the 50th anniversary of the show - June 14-15. but, be there days early to go to shops that hold open house gatherings, etc.
I stayed at the Raddison in Covina, 5 minutes away. Complimentary all you can eat bacon, eggs and pancakes. Don't remember the price but I ate at least that much in bacon.
Stay at the Sheridan if you have a car you want to get rid of for top dollar (agreed coverage). Someone looses a car there every year & the Sheridan doesn't give a ****.
I stay at the Holiday Inn Express at Diamond Bar, I book about three weeks out get it for about $85. Rooms are nice and the staff is easy to work with. I once had the mini fridge humming too loud and they swaped it out at midnight.
We stay every year at Motel 6 on Arrow, not fancy but clean and safe, price is right, we stay for the week and get a weekly rate which saves a heap.($324 for week) like hotrod don says Red Roof is OK, The annual GREYBEARD TOUR stay there and they seem happy.
all of the motels located on Garey Ave are in a 'rough' neighborhood, BUT rough is a relative term. the area residents really couldn't care about traditional cars. they wouldn't have anywhere to unload them. if you drove a 64 impala, 75 monte carlo or a bathtub caprice, i would be worried, but if not.... i used to stay at the motel 6 on Garey when i used to race good guys. once you're in the room you wouldn't know the difference. i don't remember any reports of problems from the racers. were it me, i wouldn't stay there again. not because i was worried or afraid, but because besides motels and gas stations, there's nothing out that way.
