I've been searching the forums, but have yet to find a thread discussing a dual reservoir master cylinder replacement for a 1962 LeSabre. I have read a few posts for other vehicles that have suggested a '71 Nova MC and specified drum/drum. Is it possible to verify the fit (push rod length,etc..) prior to buying a new MC or pulling the old one? She's a biiiiiig girl, and I don't want her stranded in the way of any other projects in the barn while I have to try and match things up... Any help is appreciated. Best, Daniel
Curious if you found anything that worked also. I too have a 62 lesabre that id like to swap to dual MC Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
Intro: I'm 45 Live in KC (Blues, Booze, & BBQ) I own a few projects I'm helping my father restore a 1958 Mercedes 190SL I believe every man should finish and drive his dream car. Now I'll try to repost my question in a/the "reg" forum
So I picked up the master cylinder and Booster for the 1967 Electra. It mounts up fine so far. The push rod lines up and is the same length. Now it's just a matter of plumbing. I put an inline T for the pressure switch since the new MC isn't threaded for it. I used the original distribution block for the front brakes, and plugged the original hole that fed the rear brakes. I'm just coupling a line to the original rear brake line and running that into the rear bowl of the new MC. I'll keep you posted. Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
It worked. The only other modification I had to do was to drill out the pushrod with a 1/2" drill to get it to fit on the brake pedal stud. I've driven it around the shop and parking lot and everything seems fine! Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
