62 Comet, only turn signals work.

To get straight to the chase, I am having issues with the lighting on my 62 comet. I have gone through the harness and repaired it and also replaced the fuses. I can only get my turn signals in the rear to work properly.

I have no dome light, headlights, dash lights, brake lights, reverse or parking lights. The only thing I have yet to replace is the headlight switch, which as I am posting this, is making me think I should immediately.

Anybody have any ideas of what I am doing wrong?

All lighting except brake lighting and turn signals is routed through the headlight switch. Brake lighting and turn signals are routed through the turn signal switch.

If your Comet headlight switch is like a Falcon's (and I think it is) the junction block with the fuses is attached to the headlight switch and held on with a clip. Sometimes the clip comes off and the junction block gets loose. Instead of replacing the headlight switch, give the old one a good inspection and cleaning.

I have cleaned all contacts and checked all connections. Still not functioning.

I had a very simular problem with my 64 Falcon.

It turns out I had my ground on the back of the ignition switch on the wrong terminal.
Even my repair manual I was using said to put it in the wrong spot.

Check your grounds on the parking/front turn lamps. If they turn out ok, then turn signal switch wiring.

Do you have a schematic? If you do, then you should remove your switch and "ring out" the lines, meaning that you should jump power directly to the lighting circuits to verify they are working.

You should also bench test your switch. You don't want to buy a new one if you don't need it.
