I was just at the upholstery shop to get a price on a headliner for my 37 Coupe, Before they call with the price, I was wondering what prices others have gotten to build and install it and install windlace around the doors as well. Just for a guideline. Thanks

My buddy charges $400 plus the headliner for install, says it's a pain.

Well i got a bill here. The guy im useing is definetly on the pricey side. And this is a quote for a model a with a headliner with a red insert on white background. Headliner is 685 and the windcord as he call it is 170 for both doors. But this guy does nice work and you pay for it. Oh and theres another hambers car in there ahead of mine.

it all depends on the vehicle. Perhaps the rear window has to come out. that may mean a new seal is required.

If you can find a shop that does good work, just pay the price. It is getting harder and harder to find a shop that will do piece work.

think about it...three days or having a bay tied up, plus materials...and to do all that for $5-800? Seems reasonable to me.

if they sew the headliner and windlace, I would expect to pay $6-800, at least.

Thats about what I thought. This is the same shop that did my 32 Roadster interior, and they do fantastic work.

even if you supply the headliner, you're looking at a couple hours at the LEAST for installation. So most shops on average are $100 an hour...

regardless of how simple it looks, it is anything but.... I worked in an upholstery shop here in Indy and everyone is pretty on par with pricing with what I would say. It is one of the worst jobs in the shop other than the tear down of moldy seats/cushions for boats.

I installed my own headliner and lace. PITA and took most of the day. Would I do it again? Probably. Saved a few dollars. Not overly complicated but time consuming.

Tell us more about the job. Is the HL still in the car with all the bows, tuck strips, and trim pieces. Do you want vinyl, cloth or cloth with foam backing solid color. Do you want the visors done to match the HL? Is the windlace to be replaced with cloth(OEM style) or will vinyl be OK? Discribe the job to be done a little and I will give you a price. 36fordguy(upholsterer)

That really doesnt apply, late model headliners are molded with the fabric onto a backing...no bows, tack strips, no pain in the *** installation
