I am adding some pics because I felt as thought my clutch was not disengaging. It is moving, but it appears that the two halves of the disc are separating and sticking to both the pressure plate and the Flywheel. Will replacing the friction disc fix my problem? One is the clutch sitting as is and the other is when the pedal is depressed. Notice the black gap in between the disc? I do not remember this being normal at any other time when I have replaced a clutch.

I feel like this is my whole Clutch will not Disengage problem since I am getting movement and the pressure plate is being depressed. 1965 GMC w/283 Chevy engine.

I appreciate any input or ideas.

A clutch is a medium pain in the neck to do.
Number one idea is to NOT go back in right away.
Replace clutch as a kit from a good company.
Surface flywheel, replace pilot bearing, check for oil leaks while apart.
Use alignment tool, alignment dowels on engine.

Had that happen to me several times. I just changed the disc back in the old days, now I prefer to get the matched disc and plate. I hate going back in when it doesn't fix the problem! Only happened once, but that was more than enough. I'm getting to old and crotchetty to redo stuff, especially laying down under a car.......

The gap between the facings is normal for a released condition ,the metal is called a "Marcel" spring and serves to make for a smoother engagement. The the vehicle has been setting for a while the disk sticking to flywheel/clutch cover is not uncommon. Try cranking it over in gear with the pedal down and see if it releases, also you can remove the bearing freeplay to get a bit more release travel to help break it loose.

Prop the clutch pedal down and slide a knife blade or putty knife between the clutch plate and flywheel, and clutch plate and pressure plate. You may want to turn the engine over and do this in 2 or 3 places. The clutch plate can get stuck if the vehicle is left for a long time.

If this works no further work is required.

For a vehicle that is being parked for several months, prop a stick between the dash board and clutch pedal to stop this from happening again.

Thank Rusty O'Toole, you win a Cookie. HAHA.

I did some real digging on the net and found some threads on stuck clutches. It had been sitting like that for a year while the High School kids worked on it as a school project. The Disc rusted to the Pressure plate and fly wheel. This is why the friction disc is separating. the flywheel and pressure plate are pulling it apart and this is why I am getting a funny reaction from the clutch pedal. Just wanted to update you all just in case my issue helps someone else. I ordered a new disc and will just clean it up and install a new one while I have it apart. The kids doing the cl*** project on my truck installed the old one.
