Well, I've always planned on putting my '35 Dodge coupe body on the frame under my '35 Dodge sedan parts car, but over the years the near-complete sedan has grown on me, and I now don't want to cannabalize it. I'll probably build the sedan some day. Sure, I could try to duplicate the sedan's frame and use it for the coupe, but I've never built a frame before from scratch and just maybe it would be easier to find another factory MOPAR frame. So, Hey you Dodge/Plymouth/Chrysler junkies and experts out there, what other frames are the same (or close enough to work) as a '35 Dodge car frame, and how tough will it likely be to find one these days? Also, Pickup frames were quite different than the car frames in '35 and '36 weren't they? Any suggestions appreciated.
Seriously? Or are you pulling my leg? Seems like lots of folks try to put just about any body on an S-10 frame. But if it is close, I wouldn't rule it out if I can't find a MOPAR frame.
Jeem, that's just wrong man. Southfork. Choose one and make it fit. This is hot rodding and hot rods are not bolt together. Maybe the coupe on deuce rails would be pretty cool, or not. Most of those bodies were pretty close in the '30s maybe look at a 35/6 ford frame to go under it. it should be close enough that it wouldn't take really major surgery to get it under there. Or if you want to keep the parallel leaves maybe look at a chebby frame, they are usually pretty cheap and perhaps easier to locate than a MOPAR frame. Hudson es*** and desoto frames would also probably fill the bill if you don't know where a dodge plylouth or chrysler frame can be located. No doubt the Ford or Chevy are going to be the easiest to locate.
S-10s work with these , with a bit of modification, I am in the process of putting a 28 Dodge super six 2-door body on a 90 Dakota ch***is. the mini Dodge is a 318 truck , .. I have access to anything to build anything. But, the beauty of putting a fully fendered body on a newer minitruck ch***is is the COMPLETE modern drivetrain, (disc brakes , full frame , power accessories, etc.) It's all there , and available if you need parts from NAPA, I'm not trying to piss- off anybody , I AM an old school rodder and would NEVER put a fenderless body on a newer ch***is, (they just look terrible) But , sistering up body mounts on a late 80s , or earlier ch***is is quick, and fairly inexpensive , Just IMO , Joe
I hear that body will drop right onto a '35 plymouth frame without much work....all kidding aside, what is your realistic budget and intended purpose for the car? There are actually quite a few aftermarket companys building frames and rolling ch***is for these old mopars now. Also, jump on craigslist for north idaho....since i see you are atleast in the same state. There is a guy in rathrdrum or hayden lake that has achers of old cars from an old wrecking yard that is clearing out. Might have something you need. http://spokane.craigslist.org/ptd/3930018843.html **I own none of this, just p***ing the info**
35/36 ch***is are extremely similar - the next change started in 37 which ran through till 39 and then there was another change in 40 through till 48/49
