Ive got a 34 Ford Truck , half hood , chopped top , shortend bed full fendered. My question is what exhaust should i run . I have ram horns and block hugger headers to chose from. Also should i run a set of gl*** packs ? Where do i run my exhaust ends ? In front of , behind rear tire or out the rear ?
depends on build style, are what era of build. Block huggers instanly get you into a modern build, with open hood sides to see them. Old rods ran ramhorn or the earlier 55 style manifolds for the average back yard build. yes there were hot rod mufflers way back if you want the sound. Autorama builds on pickups had all sorts of tailpipes, some called belly burners which ran along the top of the bed. Do what you like, there is not a wrong way IMO, if you use the smaller pipes that were used. Not 2"
Depends on the "look" you're goin for, what kind of mill are you runnin'? Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
350/350. Kinda trying to stay with the older gangster style look. 3 inch chop in. Rear of the roof . 4 inch out the front . Full fenders , running boards , all aprons , front original bumper , wide whites with chrome smothies , hood top only (no side panels) . Shortened bed , 4 1/2 drop super bell front axle , rear coil overs ,
I started with lakes headers due to the local muffler shop wanting $800 for duals with My Smithys. I made baffles for them and they were not too loud and fun for a while. That got old and I got sick of everyone thinking if it had primer and loud pipes it must be a rat rod so I bought a few bends and put Rams horns and Smithys on it, maybe isn't too pretty underneath, but learned a lot and have less than $100 in my exhaust. At GNRS I got to hear some Porter mufflers, WOW! Now I have the short Porters and they are great! Just some ideas....I'd do the horns and Porters, depending on suspension it can be a pain getting around the rear spring, I just went under. Jerry
