I sure do Know this car. It belonged to Tommy Ivo. We were at a 3 day meet in NY that was the 61 (?) NASCAR Nationals, we were the top contender for the top elimianator prize of a brand new ElCamino for two days, Then HE showed up.
We did end up as AA/D National winner though. Strokers Hot Rod Club.

That appears to be his 2nd Dragmaster chassis car, but I could be wrong because I've never seen any confirmed color photos of his first dragster, but I know for a fact that his 2nd one was red...I'm still looking for more photos and stories...I never tire of hearing about his ingenuity and inventiveness...

deucegasser .... No they did use a 57 Chevy for a push car for the dragster though !!! It was a blue dragster with a polished sheet metal body.It was featured in Hot Rod Magazine in 62 or 63.Then they built a A/F Dragster that was blue & silver metalflake. They run a lot at Dragway 42 & Pences & Kil-Kare in Xenia Ohio.

Tommy Ivo just built a clone of this 4-engine dragster a couple years ago.I think it is at the NHRA Museum now.The orginal still has the wagon master body on it.The clone is just like the orginal car in these pictures.

Does anyone know anything about the C/A 84 pic on page #1 post #9. It was my late brother, Steve Kinder (Centerville, Indiana) 1932 Ford B Sedan that ran at 1961 nationals.

Not sure how this thread got dragged back to the top but thank you for doing so.

I recall when I was a kid with my Kodak camera at the races, film was expensive and processing even more so. I remember taking my film to the drug store and then waiting patiently, sometimes not, for the pictures to reappear. Looking back they were terrible but that did not matter, they were real race cars.

Thanks to the OP for putting his photographic work up for us to see. Great stuff and it is so rewarding to know that so many of these race cars are still in good hands. Thanks again.

I was wondering why the NHRA and people did not take more pictures of the 1st or inaugural Nationals held at Indy. It must have been film and processing was expensive back then.

The C/A84 1932 B Model Ford was my brothers. Steve Kinder, from Centerville, Indiana. He died in a plane crash in 1970. The car was sold in 1962 or 1963, whereabouts unknown. I've been trying to locate this car for years or even find photos of it as it competed in 1961. The photos on this thread are the only cars other than the big name class winners I've found. This car set the track record at Muncie Dragway, Muncie Indiana in 1960 12.25 at 112.5 mph. that never was broken. Not many photos from the inaugural 1st year in Indy. 1961 was one of the last year guys built cars like these in their garages, before the big money came. I believe Mickey Thompson had 9 or 11 cars entered in 61, sponsored by Pontiac. All of us old timer were elated when Thompson only won one class.

The middle photo C/A182 was in 1960 at Muncie Dragway before it was finished painted. C/A84 was the number assigned the car at the 61 Nationals. The third photo it was loaded, we were leaving for the Nationals.

We located another photo of the rear of the car. Forgive the Dude with the polish cloth "ME" The photo that reads SPONSORED BY MUNCIE DRAGWAY

The car has been replicated by a man who was 14 yrs old in 1961 from the same town. He remembered it as the coolest car he had ever seen. The bottom right photo is that car.

Found a later owner. Bob Hook owned it until 1988. 01Sugarbear.jpg is what it looked like in 1988.
