I bought a set of SBC ram horn manifolds on ebay but the guy didn't show or talk about the choke holes in the top of the left side manifold. I have had no luck searching manifold ID and Corvette internet sites.
Has any seen an 3797901 exhaust manifold with choke hole like these? Does any one has a pic of the choke bracket that bolts to it?

    Thanks for the help Edger

  2. i believe there is just a tube that goes through the hole. you can plug them off if you don't need them

Thats not how the factory did it, the hole was in the casting just to the left of that hole, it was around a 1/4" hole if I recall

Thats what I thought, the guy I bought it from claims they are factory holes.

Got this off the web, read also about a hole like that from Google:

    1962 – 1963 Chevy Corvette Exhaust Manifolds

    LH manifold casting #3797901
    RH manifold casting #3797902

#3797901 was used on the LH side on ’62 and ’63 300hp and 340hp engines (pass.-side generator on ’62, pass.-side alternator on ’63).

Manifold #3797901 is for the driver’s side, and has a mounting ear.
Manifold #3797902 is for the passenger side and has a mounting ear.

Pass.-side alternator mount 2-1/2″ manifolds are casting #3797902 (were used on ’65 300/350/365/375hp engines without A/C). Casting numbers are rarely the same as the GM part number, as the same basic casting was usually machined into several different final configurations, each of which had its own GM part number. The casting #3797902 RH manifold was GM P/N 3814970, but the part number doesn’t appear on castings, and it was discontinued over 20 years ago.

I never seen one, F6 is talking about the manifolds with the generator mounting holes/ears, totally different than choke hole.

I know the difference between a generator ear and a friggin choke tube hole. The list I put up is just a description of the manifold and the year it fits because the OP said he couldn't figure out the application. I read a post about the hole on a corvette forum when I did a google search.

The 901 is the drivers side I believe, and the choke is used on the pass side.
This is what an original should look like....

I have NEVER seen a choke hole that big. Looks more like a hole for an exhaust temp sender.

I do the CA "smog crap". Looks like someone modified the manifold to accept air injection. Most likely to pass the smog test.
Believe it or not this" smog crap" works!
Anyway, not cool. Shoulda put correct manifold on...

Looks as if you have some kind of abomination with the big hole in the exhaust header and the gen/alt extension missing. The 901's are LH, driver's side, manifolds and had no choke tube holes. The round boss to the left of the hole in your picture is where that tube hole goes, but the drilled hole is on the 902 or RH, passenger side. Two versions of the 902 manifold exist: 1962-65 carbureted Vette and 63 300hp passenger car with A/C all had the drilled boss; 1962-65 FI Vettes were not drilled. The below photos are not of my 1962 Vette manifolds but are representative of them. In the first two pix, the top manifold is a foreign made repro, but still made in the same design. The last pix is a comparison between the 2in and 2.5in manifold, but you can see how the tube runs from the top boss thru to another boss at the bottom.
