I remember the '51 Merc that was built for the movie Heart Like a Wheel used '60 Olds taillights because the production company couldn't find Packard taillights in time - anyone have a good closeup shot of the car that shows them?
Don't some people take the cathedral style lights off of the mid 50s packards and use them on other cars? If you like the stock tail lights, put em in. It's your car, do what you want! Plus, you don't really see many stock tail lights on Custom Mercs if i'm not mistaken
Facel Vega HK 500 taillights would be mega, you have to see them in the flesh to really appreciate them. Sorry I don't know how to get a picture up here! Google them!
They really disrupt the flow of the rear fender. http://us.yhs4.search.yahoo.com/yhs..._IA,206,0_0,StartPage,20120520,18047,0,0,6434
'59 Caddy taillights are fantastic!......on a '59 Caddy! Those 70's taillights are SO fuckin wrong! I have been partial to bumperguard lights, ever since seeing the ones slddnmatt's been making. The '51 Merc has been done so many different ways, but I would stick with something from that era. The Hirohata's really look great... Pick something, and go with it. Never do what someone else says you should do. Right up there with "how should I cut my hair?" hahaha
The 59 Caddy lights are a no go, and those 70s lights are trying to hard to be different with parts out of pick-a-part. Stock 51 lights are cool, or try and find some 52-54 Lincoln tail lights.
