Anybody have any pictures of Tom McMullen's Tubs ? He had three that I know of ...the Hot for Teacher tub and the brown tub and the orange one with the wild flames.
I seem to remember his brown one with the cool looking top was burned in a garage fire that destroyed the rod next to it also. This was after Tom sold it.There was a picture in Street Rodder mag showing the garage and contents burned all the way to the ground.Correct me if I am wrong.
you're not wrong , i remember that too i'm not sure how cool looking it was , i also seam to remember it had square headlights...or am i wrong on that?
Yeah, brown (fade) one had square headlights, and the yellow highboy did too, at least for a while. Nothing uglier than square headlights on a '32.
I remember the brown one was in the Junkman movie with Tom and Deanna. All of them were Street Rodder cover cars. How did that happen ? lol
The picture of the yellow tub is from Toms Fun Run '82 . I think the flamed tub picture was from NSRA Nats Columbus . I never saw any of his other tubs .
i remember him and his wife showing up one time at orange county cruise nite in that yellow tub with that damn mountain lion in the back seat!
Thank's Granpa Munster !!! Now if I can just find a picture of the brown one. I talked to Tom in the orange one at Columbus in 1991 I think. He was sitting under a tree reading a magazine and told me about the clone of the 32 he was building.
Hey Deuce Daddy Don .... Do you have any old video or 8mm film from the LA Roadster runs ? **** Scritchfield told me he thought he had some from Tom's wedding if he could find it. THANK'S
Here's a controversial Street Rodder cover that I shot of Tom's Tub with one of my favorite models...a Penthouse Pet no less...at the late Toby Haliki's studio/offices in Gardena near Ascot Park. Toby made the original "Gone In 60 Seconds" movie and the prequel, "Junkman," in which I played myself. Fun times!
"ugly then and worse now" Whew. I was yanked into the '32 Ford cult by seeing a few '32's in randomly encountered magazines when I was about 12. I began to notice I liked every '32 I saw, even those that had major mods I disagreed with... Those phaetons might well be the only '32's out there that never sparked the slightest response from me...even when they were photographed in black and white. If a time warp had put one of those things on the cover of the first big Rod&Custom back then...well, I never would have gotten that quarter out of my pocket, and I'd probably be a big Austin Healey fan or something now. Looking at the pictures I cannot quite put my finger on how they went so comprehensively wrong in my aesthetic...but somehow they completely lost it.
Oh my gawd - is this what the new 'nostalgia' has become -1980s smoothy billetmobiles resplendent with tasteless gaudy and unnecessary graphics - how Übertacky. I hate to be the Hamb police but wtf is traditional about this....
it's a three year old thread - Blame Deloach for bringing it back up But then he just had his 69th birthday so we can forgive him a little.
Thats my old Merc squashed down in the bottom corner of the SR cover that **** posted. That alone makes this thread worthwhile, right? Mick
