I acquired a 1936 Ford Pickup project. On the p***enger's side of the windshield is a weathered 1950 Bonneville water slide decal. I am not too versed on the history of auto gl*** but the windshield didn't have any markings that could rule out the decal being real based on age of the gl*** itself. The guy I got the truck from didn't have much by way of history for it. I looked for and through any related posts here on the HAMB and also the net for available reproduction stickers for sale or any info on them. I couldn't find anything for a 1950 Car P***. I know I could have missed something so if I did I apologize. I am looking for any info that could help. If anyone knows of reproductions available or any pictures of actual decals that exist that'd be great. Maybe even info on figuring out if the windshield is at least as old as 1950 and how to determine that may help. There is a possibility I guess that the decal is real but was put on at a later date for display and this truck wasn't actually there so that could explain any difference in the age of the sticker vs. that of the windshield. I am most likely going to be selling the cab and bed and wanted to have some more solid info on this decal on the outside chance it is authentic. Thanks in advance for any help !

It could be the real deal. I'm afraid I was only five years old then. But I can tell you what the 2013 car p*** looks like.

I don't suppose you have any history on the truck itself to tell you if it had ever been that far from New York?

I believe this photo was taken in 1949.

I don't have much history available. I have searched images available from Bonneville 1950 looking for a '36 Ford p/u. I thought I had something here in the August '50 issue of Popular Mechanics (upper left) but they were pictures from '49 the previous year.

I wouldn't know. I had one on a windshield once, self adhesive not a water transfer decal.

The original ones handed out at Bonneville tech inspection were NOT water decals.
I got an extra one because I knew Ginny Giesler who was at the registration table that year handing them out.
If you have microscope eyes, you can see the other one on the windshield of the push truck in my avatar.

How come you live so close and haven't been here??

I thought that this decal was a little too thick to be a water decal which was a big reason I was thinking it was a re-pro. It looks as though it could be an adhesive sticker. Not that it means anything either way. I wish I had a better pedigree on the truck to see if there was a reason to even think it is an original.

That is a great find. I bet you could contact the S.C.T.A and someone would know. If your interested in selling the window I might consider buying it if the price is right... But if you keep it make sure you show it off because that is way COOL!!!!

I am actually in the process of trying to sell the cab and bed right now. I can't say with 100% certainty that the decal is authentic. Seems like a 50/50 shot based on the input I got on here.

It's only real in that you can touch it, it's not genuine 1950 issue.
