Hello everyone, so I'm new on this forum and I have a 1952 Chevrolet 3100. It has a later model inline 6 in it now with a manual trans on the floor. I searched and found a thread with engine codes on here but mine didn't match up. It says "392968" there is a "3921968" which is a 64-72 inline 230-250. I also found a mark reading CON F 13 9. Im trying to find out the year and size of the motor to buy a water pump and belt. please help. thanks

Can you post a pic of the motor? 230-250 64-72 or so would all take the same WP. ask for one for a 70 Nova. Valve cover sides are not straight on those engines 216-235 sides of cover are basicaly straight.

Ginger, check ur engine # again. Then pull the water pump if its on there and take it to match up with a new one. You should be able to pick one up at autozone or online. Good luck with ur new project!
    & welcome to the hamb

Block #3921968 is a 64-76 Chevy or Olds and it was used for both 230 and 250 engine. The water pump is the same. The belt will depend on what the belt runs,AC,alternator, power steering. Two more good sites for you are http://www.inliners.org/ and http://www.stovebolt.com/

I really appreciate all the help. Just picked up a water pump. Whats the best way to flush the system and not ruin the new pump. Also what type of coolant. Just any 50/50?

At this point pull the thermostat and run hose in thru there until water runs clean from pump hole. Wrap a rag around the garden hose and put in to lower radiator outlet run until water is clean looking from top rad outlet. That is about all you can do at this point. Yes regular antifreeze 50-50 is fine.
