So I'm fixing up a 1948 Ford 4 door Sedan. The car is black and so are the rims. I notice that the rims might have been red at one point since some chips on the rim reviled a red color. What do you guys think about what color the rims should be? Should I paint them back black or go with a red color? Is red rims more for like a hot rod style?
Subject has been beat to death over and over,,your new here so I will offer my opinion,,which is not popular but red is as traditional with a black car as you can get. I like most any color but black, but I seem to be in the minority these days. In the last few years many guys have embraced the all black look.HRP
Bad idea to start a thread about rim color. I learned the hard way.. Do as you wish to make it yours because you will get confused from everyones sugestions. Trust me.. JMHO
I think it looks better to at least tie the rim color into something else on the car. If the interior is green maybe go with green rims, or if the engine is blue, maybe try a matching blue color. If everything is black then you can do whatever you want. Red for the sake of red that doesn't match anything else looks out of place.
A nice burgundy or oxblood would be nice....with spider caps or regular caps. Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
Yea and thats back when they called the trunk a boot. LOL. I'll never forget when my uncle would bring home one of his prize used cars he often bought and would open the "Boot" to show us how rust free and solid the floor was. Showing are age HRP...
I agree with Detriot Doctor ! It's an accent item , match it to the car somehow . Just rattle can them , and try different themes ??
Go with a spray bomb. If not keeping the black, maybe a dark maroon? What color is the interior? If tan maybe dark maroon with 2 tan pin stripes?
My vote would be for a bright gray or silver-gray. Some years ago my uncle had a black Autocar truck and painted the wheels a sliver-gray or maybe a gray-silver. To me, it always looked better that the ones with red wheels.
