I always wondered how they ran the fuel pressure gage inside the cabin like that! I love that you can show your work through the reflection in your polished firewall!
I haven't looked through your thread in a while Steve. I just went through the last 6 pages. Simply brilliant mate. I think we all appreciate the effort and detail you put into your updates. Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
Yeah you get fuel up to the isolator then the line from the isolator to the gauge is filled with 50% antifreeze & 50% water, its a ****** of a job to fill and get the air out
"aint that the truth" but well worth the effort to avoid any fuel spraying over everything in the ****pit in the event of a leak. just as an experiment when setting mine up I ran a temporary gauge both sides of the isolator to check the accuracy and it was dead on correct. and those axles you did for me Steve are perfect thanks again. and dont forget if you make the hot rot drags we want video,, pics,, ect.
Woo Hoo my heads arrived today exactly on time, not bad at all when you consider they were still in SoCal on monday afternoon !!! now the first race begins !!! it will be tight timewise but hope to get it to HRD's They are really nice and I had hoped to get them painted this afternoon but as usual its pi$$ing down with rain !!!
Put the bank holiday monday to good use and got my heads painted, my ***an head gaskets should arrive tomorrow so hopefully will get them bolted in place. Gold flake over a black epoxy primer base.
Nice job on flaking the heads Steve! This is going to be one special looking engine when it's all bolted together. Next time I'm in London, I'll be over to check it out! Awesome.
Somebody asked why don't I just nail it together quick !!! Well everything needs to be put together and clearances checked, Last night this was typified by a clearance problem on my roller rockers, 3 of them are s****ing the valve spring retainer, I think I have the problem solved by installing a spacer under the rocker shaft supports and use a slightly longer pushrod or buzzing a bit off the rockers, I've emailed the supplier to see what they suggest. Had a slight accident last night with one of the roller lifters, It won't hold me up though as there is already a replacement due here on saturday. I ***embled the motor with stock gaskets to check piston to valve clearances and everything was fine and will put it all back together tomorrow night for the last time. Here is how its looking put together, still not made my mind up what to do with the valve covers but they can stay natural until I do.
It would probably make the cut if the picture of the rocker arms and valve covers weren't here...Can't tell it's made of 'gl*** when it's doing 120.
thanks for the info richard--- whew ryan quote they won't be deleting the old stuff... Just closing it.
Well my Head gaskets turned up bang on time so the top end was stripped off for final ***embly, all clearances were fine and everything worked like it should so it can now go back together for the last time I thought i would post a pic of the SCE ***an copper gaskets, they are really clever bits of kit as they are fitted with O rings which save a lot of expensive machine work on the block.
So Brian its sounds like my project won't be welcome but they will leave the thread here for info, correct ???
I will take the opportunity now then to thank everybody for their kind comments on my project, I hope to get the motor in the car and start up next weekend, A lot of people have pm'd me about continuing to follow my thread which can be viewed here also http://www.nsra.org.uk/newforum/showthread.php?44344-41-Willys-Project
