I have to work on a paying gig today but had to upload something from the Concours d'Elegance weekend... literally the first clip I opened. More from the Motorsports Reunion at Laguna Seca soon. https://vimeo.com/72664085
Thanks Harry, It was great meeting you in the Paddock Area. And, yes, I did find the T-shirt. I've sent you, via PM, a narrative and some clips my wife took of our race. I've enclosed (below) some links for the other HAMB'rs to see. The last video clip, you have to suffer through my wife's putting her cell phone in her purse, or something. Have patience, the END is there. It was a $1.43 part that put us out on the final lap. But, you know, at these races, it is not if you win; it's if you give the folks a good show. http://db.tt/YJGX3bKe http://db.tt/PQXjajuM http://db.tt/sO7SIwEq http://db.tt/nGYbe39Shttp://db.tt/guDD6ZdH
The first car shown inthe video is the Tatum Special with a Wayne 12 port head on a 302 GMC. It won both races on Sunday (Cl*** 5B). The second one shown is my Parkinson Jag Special (finished 2nd and 4th). Third car (yellow nose) is a Manning with 296 flathead (finished 3rd and 2nd). Several cars back (due to the next few cars making illegal p***es under yellow flag on last lap, so sent to rear of next race) is the navy blue Baldwin Spl,again with 296 flathead (awarded fourth when the illegal p***es considered, finished third in second race). A great showing by the specials!
Old Dawg / John... at least the part is a cheap fix. I have more of you that I'll post soon as I get time. Terry - congrats. Wish I met you while I was there. I have more of you too... Some slow motion... Yes a great showing all around for all the cars. The whole event was just great.
Harry - It's too bad you missed talking to Terry. He's got a long history at Monterey. He seems to have difficulty, though, controlling the "Hooligans" at Scudieria California. I went over to their paddock one time. They saw my white coveralls, and wanted to dirty'um up a bit (I don't think Terry was there) to "season' them. I scurried back to my own pit, lest my wife would scold me for getting dirty At the awards ceremony
That clip is great! I think you had a good mix of the type cars running. You captured the essence of the event.
Man, I wanted to go so bad, so thank you for the great pictures. I'm a HUGE fan of Can-Am, and the Historics is the place to get your fix. Rumbling American V-8s thundering up and down that beautiful racetrack is a sight to behold and music to my ears. You'll see them all...McLarens, Lola T-70s, Chaparrals, and all the other cool obscure brands. Hearing a McLaren hauling *** up the hill to the Corkscrew is an ***ault on your senses. A 496 cubic inch Big block Chevy with Crower injectors sticking out of the bodywork, and a cl***ic racecar shape. Oh, baby....
If any mods are here do you think it would be OK to open a new thread with the new clip? And HOW DO I GET THE VIDEO TO EMBED?
If you like "ground pounding" engine cars, you can go to VARA's "Big Bore Bash", the first weekend of November. I think, generally, they have a Can Am race. And, the admission is something like $10.00, or maybe $20.00.. It isn't the HUGE ransom that the "Reunion" folks demand. JK
Dawg, The Reunion only charged me $130 for 2 days full access. The RM auction was $50 just to look at the cars and the Concours was like $250. I think the Laguna Seca $130 was the best deal up there. But I'll be happy to only spend $20 at the Big Bore!
At AAA Speedway October 18th and 19th, the Historic Indy/Champ Car ***ociation (HCICA) will present an exhibition in conjunction with the Indy Racing League races. HCICA is sponsored by Victory Lane/Vintage Oval magazines. I think the toll is 35 bucks for both days
