I was wondering why in the hell you would even waste your time running that piece of crap olds?

  4. I've never seen this show before, but couldn't they find 2 cars a little more evenly matched?

The guy that was supposed to run the Olds broke and was unable to fix it, so Mr. Gangles stepped in and won his second car that day.

  6. tim Gangl is a friend of mine , and he is not a tool.....

  7. Well...on that episode he did not come accross well. Or the other one...

He might be a nice guy but it seriously looked like he was playing retarded games on TV.

I totaly agree! I saw it both times now on TV. He sandbagged, he should have raced the race and he didnt....we all know who saw that he didnt lay pedal at all till the end of the last race. Thats more con man than racer! But whatever gets you to sleep at night? More power too ya! I wonder what he did with the shit box olds?

  9. sandbagging in a race? that's the first time that has ever happened? that's all part of the dealing before the race....you have to do what you have to do to win....it's a race, not a charity

i don't want to start a fight , i just want to say Tim is an Ok guy in my book

i sleep just fine , thank you

FYI , both cars he won he gave back to the owners.

  10. Yeah - I heard he did that. He's a standup guy for doing that, in my book.

The olds was a joke though...

Is this a for real deal, or what? Did your friend get paid? I know most of these TV shows are for entertainment. Just wondering if he got compensated at all. Thank`s

That show is too cheap ass to even pay to set up the timing lights and tree. So a good handicaped start is impossible. I sure don't remember all that negotiating how many car lengths head start someone got in the old days. They lined 'em up and raced. Maybe I was at church camp that weekend.

  13. yes , it was for real..if he would of lost the race i'm sure the winner would have kept his car

no , he did not get paid

he got called out of the blue to do it. he and a bunch of guys threw the car together in a hurry . it was all done for fun...remember fun? that's what this is all susposed to be about...and not getting your panties in a bunch over some stupid show...

that's all i want to say

    here's tim's website : http://www.hotrodhardware.com/

racing is racing, get rid of all that lengths bullshit and just race heads up. if you think your shitty olds 88 is going to beat the Abone sedan then race from the starting line. if you know your going to get your ass kicked stay at home. just my two cents.

I saw the one where he went up against that fine GTO. Nice goat, but they broke something. Love the sedan.

Anyway, boys and girls, it's a TV Show, and we all know how 'real' 'reality' TV is. And hey, you need to bein the garage, anyway. I keep my TV in the garage on 'SPEED' Channel.....unless the Dallas Stars are playin
    hockey.

Wrench, men, turn off the boob-tube.:D

I saw Tims car at the Back to the Fifties show this summer and read about this show. I could not wait to watch it. I have watched a few episodes and lost interest. I still wanted to see his race. I thought the guy with the Olds needed some cheese with his whine. But the show still sucked. The A is cool. Glad to hear Tim gave the olds back. Its all Show Biz I guess.

THIS IS WHY I HATE BRACKET RACING!
Equate the whole thing to a fistfight. its like saying "I wanna fight you, but you gotta let me punch you in the head three or four times before you can fight back."
yes, I know about even matching and all that crap, but the fact remains that if you can't flat out outrun someone, HOW IS IT RACING?
I thought the idea was to find out who had the faster car. not who had the most consistent 4 door. I thought the point of all this speed eqipment was to make the car faster?not make it look cooler(I.M.H.O, a by-product)
the bracket racing bragging must be fun,too..."Yep, I ran a 17 sixteen times in a row... good thing I bought that high performance air filter..."
    just blows the pants off
" man, I showed that guy my taillights for a full quarter then we lined up and I did it again!" OR "that guy talked crap all night, so I outran him by a full second and made him buy all the beer..."
I miss the days of LOUD, FAST,AND BLISSFULLY,DANGEROUSLY,HILARIOUSLY OUT OF CONTROL.

    Tim is a RULER!

Tim supplies a ton of hot rod parts for all of guys here in the midwest- His business is called Minnesota HotRod Hardware.

From what I heard that show was the real deal and Tim let that dude keep his car, he couldve taken it home.

Of course he gave the car back.....what else would you do with a car like that? Sure isnt something to put in the showroom! And that poor guys kid would have cried the whole way home with nothin in the trailer behind dads truck. He did a good thing by giving it back!

Being an old fart, I remember racing just like they are. Before the fancy lights came around, we had a starter with flags. We didn't negotiate the car lengths, they were decided by the drag strip and the class you were in. If two cars were running the same class, naturally you ran heads up. Once eliminations started and if different classes ran each other, thats is where the car lengths came into play. I ran either B or C Gas depending on the track and weight of my 40 Ford. Usually the best cheat won, just like the Pinks show.

That's all fine to go out and race balls out I agree but when your going for best 2 out of 3 you will have to sandbag a bit otherwise the length's would be to large. This is TV plain and simple and I think the guy in the Sedan did the right thing. the best out of 3 turns it into a complete mind game and takes the serious racing out.
