Im using a 50 ford gauge cluster with a gmc 302 straight six engine from the mid 50's. Can I use the electric sending unit from the gmc with the ford gauge? Does it matter if its 6v or 12v sender? What about the oil pressure sender, do I need a stock flathead 6v sender with a voltage reducer in front of the gauge? Thanks for any help with this. I really wish ford used mechanical gauges for these instead of electric.

If still 6v, the Ford sending units adapted to the GMC should work. Early GMC was usually positive grd. too

The ford gauges and gmc engine are in a model a coupe now. It will all be 12volt. It would be gmc temp sending unit that i would like to use with ford gauge. Guess I will just have to give it a try.

  5. Mix-n-Match won't work for you. Use the Ford sending units. Also, Runtz voltage reducers are your friend. See Speedway for them. Been there, done that.
