Just lowering the front end on my pilothouse dodge. Unfortunately I cant use a drop axle as they aren't legal here in Queensland so I am looking at the options including putting the axle above the springs rather than below. I have made up spring plates which I will probably weld to the axle for location. The drop is about 4" which is roughly what I was after, just wondering if anyone else has done the same and what problems if any were found.

pretty common practice for your rear axle, should work on the front but will change geometry dramatically..........but you already know that.

look up the f100 unibody LSR thread. they flipped the front axle on it and I think there may be links to a few others that did so connected to that thread maybe to......

as long as you do not haul any weight it should be ok . just make sure you use some stout u bolts and double nut them

  5. I'm planning to do the same thing with my 51. I had to find a different oil pan for mine because I'm running a 25" Chrysler motor and the sump is in the middle instead of the front. I'm planning on starting fabrication this winter. I'm also going to flip the rear axle too.

Depending on the steering type you have you might be entering into the world of "ROLL STEER" not a fun place to be.

The reverse is commonly done on old Scout and Jeep 4WDs to make them taller.
