Stopped at an antique store in San Juan Bautista, CA and saw these. Any idea? One on the right looks European.
First one is a 1956 Chrysler Imperial, one of 6,821 built. Second one I agree with the Hupmobile i.d.....1935.
56 Imperial had bombsight taillights like the 55 only up on small fins. Two years only on this body. It is a 4 door, but so what? Make on heck of a ride.
Definitely Imperial...... Those tail lights had small, recessed amber lenses facing forward,... Visible in the mirrors, they were great guides when parking it at night. 4TTRUK
I'm impressed you two hillbillies know about these intimate details of the '55-'56 Imperials ! The little gas cap under the left side taillight is even worth bucks if it is still there. There may still be the big Imperial, early '50's Chrysler dealer in Patterson, CA not too far from San Juan B. Over on the Coast off I-5. I had many dealings with him when I was fin car owner through the years! Buy that Imp! Not worth as much as you would think. Only value is 331-354 if it's all there!
chromeazone,.....56 were new cars, when I began my apprenticeship at a neighborhood shop in a Buffalo 'burb. A cpl customers owned Imperials. My personal favorite was the gi-normouse '58 4TTRUK

CUT IT OUT ! What Burb? I lived on East Side City line at Eggert Road and Delevan Ave. Graduated from Fallon H.S. in 1960! Watching all these Grenades streaming by, makes me want to cry! Last BIG Car was a '57 Crown Imperial. Nobody in U.S.A. wants that "old stuff" anymore. It was a sweet heart with rebuilt 392. Best bid in U.S. was about $3200. It went overseas like the rest of my Fin cars!! P.S. My avatar is the slug out of the '92 when I got the 57 Imp. Seller said "NOT RUNNING", but no details. I didn't care! I just wanted to OWN one. Expensive move - looking back as with all my old cars, NO REGRETS ! I loved them all ! (Sounds Like a Willie Nelson/Julio Iglesias song)
Hupp is a 1936 (or possibly 1937) 621N - very rare, only about three others known. Straight 8 303ci 120hp, 121" WB. I have a complete hood for one of these hanging in the shop....
Those are good looking cars. Not sure if they were for sale but for those interested and close by the antique store is the one with the yellow 60's COE dodge with stake bed parked out front. Enjoy!!
Chrome..... I grad from Cleveland Hill H.S. in 1960. We lived on Cresthaven Dr, right near Cleveland Drive. I worked at Union Garage for about 6 months, until entering the Air Force in early '64. Before then, I worked at a gas station / garage on Cleveland Dr. Talk about a small world..... 4TTRUK
Don't make an offer on them unless the owner can provide washing instructions .... at least check in the glove box.
