New to the H.A.M.B. and I have a 1940 Bantam pickup that has been in my family since new. I am looking for any and every bit of advice I can about putting a v8-60 in it. Can I use original frame, front end rear end what type of gears to run etc. Any advice and help would be greatly appreciated. Adam
I had a V8 60 in the Model A in my avatar and they have no low end torque, they came with a 4:44 rear gear. They will work for a car to run around town in but aren't really a good choice for a driver.
Got one in my 3/4 scale 32 roadster. It has a T5 ****** with 4.11 gear in the rear. Good runabout for intown. Tops out about 55mph with that gearing. Had 2.79 gears and would run 65 with no prob. If I put it in 5th gear, it would slow to 45 pretty quick. You really need the low gears to make it fun to drive.
Sounds like a neat idea. 60 hp has got to be more than the Bantam had originally. There are probably a handfull of other small eninges that could also produce dependable power for that small car.
If you have a Ford 60, don't waste it. Put a late model 4cyl. or V6 in the little truck. = more fun, fewer problems fewer $$$$ too. Just put that 60 on a stand and look at it..
why V8-60, have one laying around? if that is the case you can get more HP from a four banger. post some pics for us.
I do already have one but, I think with how unique the truck is that it would look good with the 60 in it. I don't plan on driving cross country basically a neat little ride for the wife and I to take to dinner and ice cream an to car shows close to evansville. Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
