Its the first sunday models for September so lets make it a big one. Up first is this 1/12 scale 69 Chevy Camaro with a very detailed tunnel rammed small block chevy. The other photos are from a sunny day photo shoot I did with my favourtie model cars.
Nice cars there 30FORDNERD. I'll play. Some I've posted before. Hope to get some fresh stuff tomorow.
Here are a few of my customs, hope you like 'em. 1949 Chevy Hardtop Custom 1949 Ford Custom 1949 Ford Custom. I'm not quite happy with the paint on this one so I may end up redoing it.
I like the last one best Deano. So trad. Matt, the bird's eye shot is interesting. I like the variety.
Here's a AMT 36 Ford I'm messing with..the Dick Tracy 5 window version. It's runnin' a 312 Y-Block from a 57 Tbird
These are a pair of '48 Ford convertibles WIPs. The black one is IMC/Union and the burgundy is Testors. James aka JoKer
some great work this week! better post your Camaro and other OT stuff soon, before Ryan's "axe" falls! (Deano, love the custom shoebox builds!)
Hey Ed.. Do you happen to know when the IMC Ford was made? The Testors is a '83 issue but I have no info on the Union/IMC Ford.
James..the convert was most likely 1965-66. The coupe was 1967. Here is some links for more info. http://www.modelencyclopedia.com/DisplayWholeItem.php?ItemId=1019 and the coupe. http://www.modelencyclopedia.com/DisplayWholeItem.php?ItemId=1025
Thanks Ognib. I have been doing this for, going on, 3 years straight; everyday I am building a model race car. I plan every part out, ahead of time, and draw plans for every car so then it's just make it. I never start until I've researched it out and my drawing are 100% complete. After making 25 frames, motors, bodies, seats etc and 100 wheels and tires, I don't have to figure much out when I'm building. Here's a sprint car I just started; plans and pictures and start building. You're getting it. That 32 is killer!
Ok guys. Need help. What's up with the paint? Humidity? Old/bad paint? Been useing spray bombs for over 35yrs. Have had this happen before. Just can't remember the cause or solution. Temp around 90. Humidity medium for here( N.E. Ga. ) Partly cloudy. Paint is Testors enamel shot over fresh clean plastic. Three different cans. Newest can is three plus yrs. old. Oldest may be close to twenty yrs. old. And no I don't throw anything away.
That's Testors for ya, I hate the stuff. That's not all does not keep a shine after it dries. And you can't use it in hot humid weather. Also expensive for the amount you get. Anybody use anything else?
I usually have better luck with paint. I sprayed a '57 ford for my stepson a week ago. Testors model masters french blue base/ Boyds black-n-blue pearl topcoat that came out great. Guess it's just the humidity huh? I use PPG automotive paint from time to time. Prime n paint like 1:1 stuff. The local PPG store can put it in spray bombs.
I've yet to find a model of a '34 Ford that has the right proportions. The possible acception being the old Monogram kits of the '60s/ The Eliminator '33 from the '80s.
Nice work this week guys.... Im working on a Revell 1968 Hemi Dart kit.. No pics yet.... Maybe next week...
Why not Bob ? Uh , what happened ? Resin , depending upon whose resin, who made the "Master " and what it was designed to fit can be a really tricky senerio . I buy resin myslf and some resin is just plain JUNK. I have a Flintstone body that I had no choice bit to give up on it .Oh , eventually, I'll go and finish it . There was too much release agent in the body, three soakings and three paint jobs , it's still not ready to use . This is a first as I've done several Flintstone bodies , NO PROBLEMS on them too ! This time , nuthin .................. scrubba
Great looking models everyone, I especially like the pickups. I really need to get back into building theses things....
I've got a couple of wagons and a '61Buick in resin that seem to fine. The "A" p.u. was my first. Would've been better off to use the woody front fenders & boards with the rear stuff from the"29pu. It's mostly a fitment issue. Only problem otherwise was the interior tub on my '60 chevy wagon. Had to shave the bottom of the tub for fit & the resin reacted against any styrene it touched. Think I've got that fixed tho. My Buick is awesome! Just got to finish it.
