Ironically, much of what I read on the internet reminds me of what I make in there- are we even?

HA! I was about to mention that some of those magazines belong in the ****per!

Seriously though, they are just cars... and magazines... what does it really matter?

Apparently you haven't read them as of late then... David F. does a pretty good job with those...

Until I get a laptop in the ****per I'll keep buying mags. I haven't found the best mag, and probably never will. It isn't just with hotrods, any hobby, most of the time, the mags are pretty basic and you can ALWAYS find more/better/detailed information on the web. I subsrcibe to OSR, I wont get CKD, that is a hell of a lot of money for a 12 month sub. (one every other month). That is my biggest gripe, I know other mags have TONS of ads, but damn OSR and CKD sure aint cheap! I read OSR like I read a girly mag, for the pictures, not the words...

Correctamundo good sir, I hav'nt read hot rod for 20 years or better. There's only so many ways to make your fox bodied mustang "hook up" and the prostreet years were damn near unbearable. In those days I was the Freak
with the nose high '55. (now I'm just a freak) Hot rods are once again gaining in popularity and of course the "mainstream" mags are gonna cash in. I'm not one of those "my way is the only way" guys but geeeeeze, it does'nt take much talent to shove monster meats and the biggest engine that your home equity loan will buy into an 84 cutl***. OK, I'm done venting and I'll go down to the local stand to pick up an issue of HR. IF indeed it's format has moved in a sensible direction I will once again be a reader instead of a "wiper".

I like the net vs. print simply because I can get EXACTLY what I'm looking for,not 32 pages of **** I don't want. Who does market research for these magazines(OSR/CKD) anyway? Or did they just think "Hey, I think this is cool, so will everyone else!" What a stupid way to run a business:D Fun is fun, but there's always bills at the end of the day. Somebody must be buying them though...

Speed and Chrome is the mag you are talking about, and yes it isn't bad when you can find it. The latest issue is nice.

Ol skool rodz Garbage? are you friggin kidding? what else is out there?
    "Billet madness"?
    "Tupperware monthly"?
    "Mullet Camaros"?
    "Gold chainer crate engine shootout"?

Ol' Skool Rodz is a breath of fresh air, a mag put out by real hot rodders not
the Boyd jerk-off coddingtons of the world.

It also was #8 in Barnes & Noble, now thats an acomplishment considering how many mags tank in a years time. Its all about distribution, they actully pulled a few quick ones to get the mag on news stands and it turned out very well.

As ****py a mag as OSR is, It's still the best selling hot-rod magazine I sell.

I would l rather see magazines with "real world" hot-rods rather than pie in the sky, jillion dollar goldchainers.

Mags like Street Rodder, Street rod builder, Super Rod, American Rodder have dominated sales for the last decade so it's nice to see a bunch of ****py home-growns now and then.

It makes me feel like my car isn't such a ****-heap.

Isn't the current hot rod the one with the 3 garage built machines that did the power tour? That article puts hope back in this hobby, a way to build a car for $2K (and a little luck) that's just cool to have around.

I enjoy both OSR and CKD...but CKD did have some major editing problems. It appears that they have resolved that problem...and I'm glad.:)
