Can an MSD distributor that needs a 6A box be converted to other electronic devices?

This is an MSD type (actually the Pro Comp knock off) for a 59AB flathead. Is there a Pertronics unit that will work or how about adapting the GM HEI module? Thank you for any help.

On an hei module, just hook your distributor plug to the wires that would go to the pickup coil on this drawing....Works great

The HAMB comes through again - thanks OJ. Now to determine which lead is + and - coming out of the distributor.

zibo had some good distributor conversion information on his post about his 'belly****on 40 Ford'. Yes, the Procomp dist can be converted to run a GM HEI module verses a 6al type electronic box. If anyone is interested, information is posted there on how it can be done.

If you don't want to run an HEI module outside the distributor somewhere, with the extra wiring and figuring out how to heat sink it for longevity, you can send the distributor in to us at PerTronix and we will convert it internally to an Ignitor.

Can you install the Ingnitor II and can you quote a price here? Can any of the original internal parts of the Procomp be used or does the shaft trigger bars need to be changed too?

Yes an Ignitor II could be installed, and yes we can use the reluctor wheel to trigger the Ignitor. PM me for a phone number and we can discuss the particulars to do this conversion. I can't quote you, as I am the director of Exhaust R&D for the company, but will put you with the right person that handles the custom electronics in our company. ;)
    Thanks, Don
