I am moving 3 cars from Oregon to California. I tried the HAmb o dex guys but they don't get out my way much. How do you know who to trust? Thanks, J
If you are moving (3) cars at one time ... If both are going from the same pick up location to the same drop noff location ... Reliable Carriers Inc. Jim
I've have maybe 6 vehicles shipped, several didn't run.I took the chance and put an ad on U Ship. These are drivers not show vehicles.Yes,I got brokers, yes ,some of the actual haulers spoke English as a second language. And yes I got my vehicles delivered on time with no damage. That's my experience, the next guy who takes this chance may get ****ed...
All the info Truckedup provided is completely true. My experience was hauling 3 cars from FL to TX. Luckily everythong went well, but I was very concerned about it when we loaded them up. LOL
I recently bought a car and had 4 offers to transport it. I was skeptical of the lowest bid so I asked around and found a local dealer that has had many cars transported, and he recompensed a person that offered to do it for less. I have a lot of confidence in him as he has preformed so well in the past for the dealer.
All you need to know is to call Eric. 1 425 343 6506. He's hauled a bunch for me, up, down, and off of I5. Never bumped the price and was always courteous and prompt. I would give him my garage door code and not think twice. He is an owner operator, which is the only way to fly. Do yourself a huge favor and check with him. That number is a cell phone, leave a message and tell him Joe from Springfield referred you. He will take care of you and his prices are really really fair.
uship is just like ebay. You need to watch their feedback. the cheapest might not be the best. a lot of people don't like uship or ebay for that matter of fact and the only thing I can say is they must go the cheapest route and get burned and I've had good fortunes with both but I do research them before buying or shipping.
I've had 3 brought from Ca. to Or by Pacific/ Covey transport. Stockton Ca.Was very happy. Good luck Jack
I used Hog Haulers (based in Portland I thought) a few yrs ago. On time and price was fair. what is going rate for coast to coast transport ($/ mile) for a non driver.
If you're worried go "big". Reliable, Horseless Carriage, Mackie. I used to use Mackie Transport for everything. Sent 5 cars to FL for a guy and both of us were beyond satisfied with the service. Now I move my own so it's been decades since I used em, but the drivers were all "car guys" and had all the right moves/answers/equipment. Every one of them treated us and were treated like we've known them forever. In the end it's all about the care and service. Lots of good movers out there now. If price is your 1st and only concern the old rules apply.
Ask to see their insurance certificate! I hired a company on a recommendation of a friend of a friend. Moved a high-dollar 100-point muscle car from the east coast to the west coast and back for a photo shoot. The car was damaged on the return trip by the car above it in the hauler leaking brake fluid. Lots of paint damage. Was told by the transport company that they "self-insure", (code for no insurance) and the owner of the car should claim on his insurance! When I stated that I felt the transport company should be financially responsible, they told me I would have to sue them to see any money! So I checked with my attorney and found out I would have to bring suit in the transport company's state, (NJ) and would have to hire a NJ lawyer. I ended up writing a check to the owner of the car for an $11,000 repaint because it became quickly apparent that that would cost less than starting a lawsuit against these jerks! Get a copy of their business insurance certificate and if you have trouble understanding it, ask your insurance agent to look at it and make sure it is valid, current, and provides the proper coverage for your car while it is in the transport company's possession. Tom
I've used Reliable several times...not the cheapest, but on time and first rate equipment and drivers.
Try the search engine on this site...lots of threads about this. Here is a site that may help you out.... http://www.transportreviews.com/ Try and deal with the trucking company themselves not a third party.
I had 3 cars shipped using different companies and didnt have any issues, don't look for the cheapest prices, sometimes it's worth the extra costs so if the shipping cost are very low, probably its not a reputable company. Here you can find some info about international car transport.
Car hauler insurance certificate? Might be false security. Many are the minimum required, something like 50 cents a pound. You need proof of insurance that will pay stated value..
Personally,I won't use anyone except Hamb haulers,,I will wait until they can work me in BenD & racinman are my 2 go to guys but they are several others with impeccable reputations and if my normal guys can't work me in with what we think is a reasonable amount of time I'll use one of the otherr Hamb haulers. I've used Intercity a few times and they are fantastic. They have good clean equipment, professional drivers and they keep you informed about where your car is while in shipment. I can't say enough about the way they treated me and my cars. Last time I used them was last Summer to move 6 cars from Connecticut to North Carolina. Because I was able to fill the truck they gave me a very good price. I sold a kit Cobra a few years ago and it was picked up by a fly by night carrier. The truck was a mess inside and out and they wanted to put the car on the lower deck under a car that was bleeding atf. I asked if they would be covering the car and he looked at me like I was crazy. I was able to persuade him to load the car on top instead. You get what you pay for... Pete
reliable carriers is who we ( step father) used to transport a O/t car ( mercedes ) from the port of Savanna GA. to Chicago with nary any dirt or scratch ( they covered the car up in transport ) and the drivers are professional , clean and plesant to deal with and follow special instructions ( I am a truck driver and they caught me off guard ) , they haul most of the oems prototypes from Detroit to the western proving grounds , so they have a good record . they are worth the money . as for insurance , have to have insurance to get plates and most carry bare basic , as to see if they are bonded and get a copy of the certificate . most states have a rating system to see if they are in good standing ( excessive claims , problems ) you have to get the carriers home state to look these up .
