A few weeks back I made the decision to enlist the help of Lime Works Speed Shop on my 53 Ford transmission swap. I know as a car guy I try and do as much as possible for myself, but there are times when you can’t do it all. I was sad at first thinking of my pride and how would I get pass telling people that I had to farm out a simple transmission swap. But I realized that sometimes things can be beyond our physical capabilities, skill level, or maybe just lacking the proper tools required to finish the job and do it right. Well mine was a physical capability issue. Being in a wheelchair and trying to do that job would have just killed my spirit for my hobby. Living a couple of miles from one of the best shops, I enlisted their help. I want to thanks Steve Dennish and his employees Jesse, Kerry, James, and Andrew for their hard work and knowledge! Driving my car is so enjoyable knowing that the work performed is done right and safe! Thanks Lime Works J

That feeling you first had is spread by the self centered idiots, who think if you can't do it all, your car's a "1-800" street rod. While it's nice to have a shop or garage with all the tools and the ability to use them, not everyone is gifted in those things. The pressure to be one of the cool kids is strong, but it's also a bunch of bull shit in the scheme of things.

You used your imagination and knowledge and worked out what you wanted done, then you were able to explain it to someone who could do the job properly. That takes more skill to do, than the guy with the fancy welding machine laying booger welds and calling it home grown. His pride and joy will be in pieces forever.

I'm looking forward to seeing pics of your ride.

I recently faced the same dilema. I decided that the work I wanted done and the calibre I wanted it done at was just a little above my skill set. I found an outstanding shop to do the work and I am very pleased with the work they did and I can now continue on with my build.

I just found this on here Mr Shoes ;) thanks for giving us the opportunity to get your Kool Kustom into a place where you can drive it , and stop it too ( the brakes were completely shot from sitting ) so the brakes got a complete rehab too , dual circuit master new, lines , new shoes & cylinders & all 4 drums turned. She drove great with the upgrades & now is ready to cruise in style. TfeverFred it is so true what you said to .

    Cheers

    Steve

I'll be farming out a chop job real soon. I'll also be buying a frame. A lot of times we just can't do it all.

    Btw...Nice ride
