I found a small area of rust on my fire wall where the heater valve was I'm replacing the insulation on the fire wall and would like to stop the spread for now plan on pulling the motor this winter then I can make correct repairs. Whats out there that will work. Rustoleum paint/primer or what ??

this winter is not that far away, it can't get that much worse by then. i would use a spot blaster to get rid of the rust, prime and paint it, if i thought there was a chance i would not get to it.

you could s****e the flakey stuff off,and then rub some grease into it,that would slow it down, but if you are planning on it this winter,i would just leave it as is.It isn't going to get much worse in a couple of months.Harvey
