Hello there, Joe here. My wife's uncle suggested I join up to enlist the great minds of HAMB in my project vehicle. It is a pretty nice looking F100 that I bought from the original owner's nephew about a year ago. Much is still original, some rust, but not too bad, new motor, not the 352 that came with it, but a lovely 390 professionally rebuilt by a local dude who only rebuilds 390s (because the last 390 in there got blowed up through some probably careless bravado on my part. Anyway to my question. I got the idea that a 1-wire alternator would be a nice replacement for the original one. So far so good. Figured out how to space it off the block so it fits in nicely. Only trouble is that I don't know how to get the ammeter to show what's happening. Not enough wires it seems to me. So if somebody could help explain what should probably be obvious, I would most definitely be very appreciative. Joe
Welcome to the HAMB from South Ga>>>you should have two wires off of the ammeter gauge. the gauge essentially wires in between the alternator and battery feed. Or in your case , (ford solenoid) solenoid battery 12v feed to dash. You can look online , there are plenty of diagrams for ammeter wiring. .Good luck
Thanks folks. After reading Willys1's reply and then looking at my wiring, I concluded that the Ammeter being dead wasn't my doing after all. I couldn't remember whether it had worked before I put in the one-wire Alternator, and assumed it had been. WRONG. Turned out the prior owner had robbed the in-line fuse out of the orange wire. I replaced it and now my Meter works. Looks like it also lights my Oil Pressure light, which also wasn't working before. Now I'll find out if he pulled the fuse because something was making it blow, right? Your help was much appreciated. Joe
