Can you put body filler over a lead patch?

    Started grinding on my 1950 mercury and ran into a lead patch on the rear passenger door. I don't know how to lead and was wondering if you can bondo over it.

    yes , did it many a times , just make sure the flux is washed off ( prepsol wipe down )

    Yes, it's been done a LOT. I like to shoot a coat of epoxy primer over brazing, or lead before putting body filler over it, just to be safe. Seals it, and better adhesion.

    i would put a coat of durs-glas on first..

    The factories did it all the time when they used lead for seams.

    I can't emphasize the mans word enough ! There too many times is a chemical reaction , usually several years later between bondo and brass used in brazing . The lead, make sure you use a Prepsol wash before spreading ANY plastic !

    Yes,we do it all the time on the Limos and Herses.

    Pretty good info. I didn't know you could body fill lead.

    Same thing happens when someone uses flux core wire with a Mig weld on body panels! It will react aand bubble after a year or two!
