Started grinding on my 1950 mercury and ran into a lead patch on the rear passenger door. I don't know how to lead and was wondering if you can bondo over it.
Yes, it's been done a LOT. I like to shoot a coat of epoxy primer over brazing, or lead before putting body filler over it, just to be safe. Seals it, and better adhesion.
I can't emphasize the mans word enough ! There too many times is a chemical reaction , usually several years later between bondo and brass used in brazing . The lead, make sure you use a Prepsol wash before spreading ANY plastic ! scrubba
Same thing happens when someone uses flux core wire with a Mig weld on body panels! It will react aand bubble after a year or two!
