It's supposed to be a tribute the best kustomiser ever ( he is the real king ! ) but it's just a ****ed 51 ! Each and every car Sam had done had style, improvement to perfection, and that tribute is goofy ! The modern stuff ****s, but anyway, i prefer the billet wheel more than the top ! fastback roof on a merc is a good idea, but that fleet roof simply don't work !

    Man, it's not a tribute, it's a joke !

It looks so ugly it can be a tribute to the other Barris ! George would be proud of that abomination !

Just a quick update. "The Rose" is still at what used to be the "Imperial Palace" and is now "The Quad". Don't ask me, I don't understand.

The price is now $185k. I wouldn't buy it even if I had the money.

Ironically, I may be stopping by George's "Kustom Industries" while I'm in the LA area. Or not.

I'd like it for a driver. Why? because I wouldn't care if it got rock chips, rained on, etc......

Yes ,it has too much modern mods to be a period type tribute car. At the same time you that hammer it, should also be doing the same when the GG/NSRA threads pop up w/18+ mag wheels, LS motors/streetroddy styling cues, CORNY door art/patina in a can/red wheelz-red-wheelz-red-wheelz.

I saw the "Rose" in Paso when it was finished, the first thing on my mind was what's going on with the roof line and the question of why. The wheels, tires make me sick to my stomach. The interior looked like a new car and not a true custom.
I agree, Bad Bob is totally right about it being a poor tribute to Sam Barris, the builders and Barris group missed the boat.
For sale for $185K only to some one who has no clue on what this car could have been, if it was done in a true traditional style.
May bit is Sam turning over in his resting place. Sorry, it was not right Sam..........

Is that roof from the other well known early car Sam built? It was a fastback car with an amazing chop, with pontiac tailights. The idea then to combine elements from Sam's Merc and that other car (which I can't seem to find the make info) is a logical idea.

I do recall seeing the car in person and was surprised that the strange rear wheel well did work in person (just doesn't show well in pictures). It made that part from the wheel to the bumper look extremely long, dramatic.

Would somebody photoshop it as a traditional 50`s custom with wide whites and the hood closed to see if it would look any better.

It's not easy to look at.

  12. I wish George would have stepped in and regulated this " tribute".

I recall in the Paso Robles days Bill Hines, 'the Wizard Gimelli', and even **** Dean gathered Buick Sedanette tops to graft them where they didn't belong. It was 'the newest thing'!

This 'Rose', by any other name, is...no tribute to Sam Barris. Maybe to George...
