Hi all, I've been told these are Kelsey-Hayes 16 x 4.5 (16 x 6 with the tires) artillery wheels of the sort used on a '35 to '37 Plymouth or Chrysler. They're 5-lug, but I don't know the distance between lugs. Anyone have any idea what they are, or where I might find three? Thanks for any help you can provide!
Generally you would make your first post in the introduction section instead of asking a question and then posting the photo again. As for the wheels your probably right that they are probably Plymouth,,the lug pattern would be 5 1/2" x 5. Check the Hamb cl***ifieds. HRP
The 5 lug pattern on Plymouth would be 5 on 4-1/2". The wheels Plymouth (and Dodge) used came from two sources as I recall - Motor Wheel with closed windows and Budd Mfg with open windows. The Budd wheels were also used by Hupmobile a**** others - I have a stash of them and they are indeed 16 x 4-1/2". The wheels in your photos look like Budd Mfg. The clips for the hubcaps may vary but a Dodge hubcap I have pops right onto my Hupp wheels....
Yeah, 5 on 4.5" bolt pattern circle. I have a set of four but one has a bad valve stem hole, I'll sell the set, PM me if you're interested.
My '34 Ply has the same wheels with the open windows, 5 on 4 1/2". You can get the rubber from Coker, FYI these use inner tubes and the guy at the tire shop has to be careful b/c its posible to mount them and inflate them without the tire being centered on the wheel. If that happens it will appear that the tire is mis-manufactured, all wobbly and crooked, the problem is easily identified by looking at the line in the rubber that is about 1/2" away from the rim to see if its centered.
Thanks everyone. Mine are definitely 5x5.5, so I guess they're not the Plymouth or Chrysler kind. Might they be Ford? Many of the 5x5.5s I've seen in my research on the Net seem to be Fords. Thanks again.
Well, now it turns out I'm wrong about what I needed. The 14-spoke, 16" by 4.5" part is all the same, but what I actually need is 6-bolt, 2 3/4" between bolt centers, and I'm told they were originally for the '36 Chevy. Thanks in advance if anyone can help.
Most think they are Chevrolet, but they're '35-'36 Pontiac. There's also the Clark, Motor Wheel, K-H, & several other mfr's replacement/changeover 16'' wheels. The hubcap in the photo isn't Pontiac, but the striping on the wheel is.
