If traditional is the new gold chain should I junk all of our cars....I would hate to be embarassed by having not only period correct cars but period built cars. Besides I would say that 95% of the "Gold Chain" built traditional cars are not properly built anyway they throw tons of new make me drive all comfy bullshit in them and call them old.....I don't think so. as far as a 32 Ford being called a belly button car that is just stupid to collectivley put all 32's in one category.

when you dont own a 32, or model a, but a car of the same period , you see it through different eyes. want to build a traditional car with period correct parts? you wont do it on the money i make.

as far as one category, they are. a 32 is a 32, i dont care who made it.

with the intro of new steel bodies, people are going to get on a high horse for owning a ford built 32, which for some reason, is the holy grail of 'traditional hot rods.'

everyone wants to be different, with the same car.

I also will say the blue 32 is just stunning!!!! So come and get them:D .. Really:D ..

I think the price has gone up and up but some of them are just nuts!

What a stupid thread. Cars are only worth what someone else is willing to pay. If someone was selling his 32 for 1 million, people would just walk away laughing at him. If a guy can sell it for 100k, more power to him, just wish it was me signing the BACK of that check. If the car is bringing that much, the work will be top notch, if it isn't then it usually wont sell that high. Have you ever though about the time cost on building a top quality car? The details have to be a tad sharper then a 10k car not to mention more "upscale" parts. If you can't justify the cost of a particular car, then just walk away laughing like you would at a million dollar car. Posting this just shows you want one and are pissy because it's out of YOUR reach. Otherwise, why care what deal is struck between others?

Hey I appreciate all the feedback on this thread.
I'm thick skinned so I don't take anything personal.
If a guy has the money to spend then more power to them.

I JUST THINK THE PRICE OF 32's is NUCKING FUTZ OK ??????

    Jealous -NAAAAAAAAAA

Goofing thing is If I wanted one - I could go buy one with a little call to my treasure chest.

I stand by what I say.
    32's are just goofy
Yea I know supply and demand.
THEY WILL DECREASE IN PRICE a little down the road.

    I AM A CAPITALIST.
I have coin to spend if wanted.

    Just goofy shit I'm thinking.

Screw 32's except the owners who drive them and don't give a shit if dirt gets on them.

Hey Continental John, What 32's are you selling and how much.
    Send me a P.M.

    Thanks guys,
    Cob

how many of you can honestly say your grandfather would pay 40k for a 32 without paint (yeah, that stuff that shines). think about what that means.

am i jealous? honestly, no. i cant afford one, dont want one. i feel once you spend that much on a car, you have to be scared to have fun in it. i used to think the average hamber made around 30k a year, now im thinking its probably twice that, then some...

    Man,

You guys are ruthless! I own 2 & 1/2 32's. Are they my favorite style of cars:confused: -No! My roadster has been eBay before, no real takers, just a bunch of lookers. Tom Fritz has oil painted 2 different versions of this car, I think that they kick ass!
I have a small fortune in this car, I begged, borrowed & stole the money (from the girlfriend);) do this car for our company as a way to showcase our products!
Well this car now does not contain the products that we produce (but wiil soon). I started building this mentally like 20 yrs ago-Why:confused: Because they are readilly identified by " most everybody" as being a Hot Rod!
the 1st part that I bought for this build was a firewall, I paid $40.00 for it, like 15yrs ago, Firewall is worth over $750.00 now. 2nd part that I bought was a grille shell & insert together for $50.00 that was hanging in this guys garage in 98. This part is worth $600.00-$1k now.
I put the word out that I was looking for a chassis 3-4yrs ago. ElmoRodge calls me on my way to work one day, I had less than a 1/2 hour to make it mine, (only thing I ever bought off eBay) It was all of $1240.00 but needed a lot of work & was 4 states away,
Did I have it shlipped:confused: No, Drove my 11 mi to the gal 454ci Suburban to pick it up in a short weekend -there & back in time for work. I had a totally bitchen stock roadster cowl that had been metal finished & I felt that I could find all of the pieces to build it from scratch, Brookville to the rescue-they agreed to builld me a body within a certain time frame based on my cowl & whatever other body parts I could gather. Was it expensive:confused: Yes, but by far I feel it was money well spent. I had my body within my time frame with all kinds of time for myself to concentrate on it's chassis. I got it together for the Antique Nats here by working till 4am that morning in order to get it there.
The next year I was cruising a small swap in Claremont & Jake Jacobs & Sheldon Bardin was selling a totally complete stocker 32 chassis. This was actually previously owned by John Mumford & sold to a Brizio customer who had thought he bought a really bitchen 32 roadster body(here comes the real henry steel deal again) It like most all of the others I've seen has been sliced dice repaired, halved:eek: . It looked like Frankenstein.(Glad brookville built 1/2 of mine;) )
I put the stocker chassis under the roadster body and have been enjoying it ever since. Does it satisfy my needs yes & no, My 1st chassis with all of our speed equip is waiting for it's body back & I am out of room to work on it here. Would I sell it, yes, but for the kinda money that the other primer roadster shown here is.
I ,just like most of you have the desease! It consumes vast amounts of capital, almost as much as real estate, but I can't drive my fixed property.
When someone wants something bad enough, they figure out ways to obtain it. If it costs a bit, so be it. pay up or shut up:D
The deuce deals are still out there. I bought a complete 32 BB 131-1/2"wb
for a whopping $200 bucks It was originally $675.00 and has a new set of Denmans all the way around;) they're worth & $1k bucks now. The truck is worth about $6k. Sounds good to me!!!!!!!!

Am I the only one a little offended by this??? There are people who have to fight for every penny they spend on thier cars, and there are some who are doing a little better...

My point? Dont Think that just because this is the HAMB that there arent people with some dough to spend based on the fact that you may not.

SO WHAT about prices? Yeah maybe your average 32 ford is a little steep, but so are 49-51 mercurys. To some people 53-54 chevys are too expensive... And somepeople cant even hardly afford a mid 60's 4 door beater...

SPEND WHAT YOU CAN AFFORD AND MAKE THE BEST OF IT.
I am not afraid to work a little harder to get what I want.

NO, I never asked how much money people made for a living.
Because I thought the H.A.M.B. was getting boring and about 99% of the reply posts of cars and shit for sale, that most guys said they were broke.
I posted and asked how much play money guys had without wiping out the family budget.
Some guys read it the right way.
Most got there panties in a bunch.
Well, it got the pot stirred and had some fun.

What guys do for a living is their business.
I stand by my statement and personal opinion that I think the prices of 32's are nuts.

Also, You don't know shit about me, and if I wanted could buy the 40K duece roadster.
As far as envy goes, My wife, son and I are healthy so I am very wealthy.

Early H.A.M.B. days guys shoot the shit.
    Now guys, take things literally.
I have thick skin and take nothing personally.

    Guess it's H.A.M.B. light.

  23. I've alway like 32's, but it took me a while to get it. In fact buying my first duece (my 3-window) went against every grain in my body. Even though I was making decent money, I had never paid over $3K for a rod in my life. Plus my favorite cars were 33-36 fords. After getting over the sticker price, I almost walked away because the seller wanted my rusty floored '40 coupe project (paid $2K for it) as part of the deal. It was fair, but a lot of loot plus a rusty floor coupe? That's Nucking Futz! After a good friend slapped me across the head a few times, I closed my eyes and did it. One time behind the wheel and I totally understood. Folks in the central texas area know that I drive the wheels off of them. In fact the 3w was a daily driver last year.

So I hear what you're saying cause I was there once. All I can say is that there are lots of things that we don't understand until we are there. I think this is the one you won't understand until you're there.

i wouldnt usaly post on a topic like this but... why dont you pick on the guys who pay stupid money for a nolen ryan rookie card, or the guy who has to have that one rare comic book because super woman had and affair with batman. you know why i dont say anything, because thats what there into. call me gold chainer, call me a follower, call me what ever the hell you want because i am gonna be one of those assholes, who pays that big money for a deuce 3 window, because thats what im into. In 1953 my grandpa was 19 years old and had built his first 3 window coupe, by 21 had his second. I have all the black and white pics from the build up to the local drag strip. I dont want one because everyone else has one, i want one because thats what i grew up thinking a hotrod is, A RED DEUCE 3-WINDOW. Hammer Hank

I know what you mean hank, thats the same reason I also want a 57 Corvette, it was the first car I remember riding in, sitting next to my dad with my feet barely reaching the floor.

Probably have just as much a chance owning one of them as I do a 32 3window!

    Hey Hank,
Last time I checked this was a car forum and not a baseball forum.

    No seriously though.
I stand by my statement that in my own opinion 32's are overpriced (to me).
Thats up to you if you think you are a gold chainer.
    I never attacked anyone.

    NEVER did I say I didn't like 32's.
I just don't see them worth what others pay.

You want to pay it go ahead.

It is interesting to see how guys reply to this.

Like any 32 out there, glass, steel, some I can take, some I can leave.
Some are boring, some I get a woodie over.
I guess I haven't seen anything in a while that trips my trigger.
When they started repopping them..well.. "Thats when rock and roll starting going down hill".

To those who want a 32 I bid you well in your persuit and don't forget your pot belly piggy bank.

It doesn't matter if you are talking '32s or anything else.........all the same. 1200 square foot house on ocean front property........$2m. Same house 15 minutes inland $180,000.

You buy what you can afford. I had a chance to buy a running '37 tudor AND a running '36 Chevy coupe from a fellow that was going through a divorce back around 1977 for $2500.00 FOR THE PAIR. Did I? Hell no! Just as well have been $100K when you've got two kids and making $150 a week.

BTW I like Ts and As better also. Or is it, I like T and A better........Hmmmm
