ive got a edelbrock streetmaster intake for a ford fe 390 id like to clean it up and paint it what does everyone reccomend/thanks mike
sandblast it,hit it with a coat of loonymum paint (I like the eastwood stuff not too chiny, not too grey) then hit it with a coat of semi flat clear to get the shine off. Eastwood diamond clear for painted surfaces works great and dosent yellow with heat or gas. my .02 Lux Blue, Rattle can master.
If your just going to paint it, clean it with Castrol SuperClean real good and paint it. If you want the aluminum look have it beadblasted & put some hi-temp clear on it.
I gl*** beaded an edelbrock intake and used diamondclear on it, about5 years ago now and it still looks great. Any gas/water wipes right off without staining.
When I worked for the dealerships, Harley-Davidson Clear rattlecan holds up pretty well. I did a 2X4 Edelbrock and a couple sets of finned valve covers. Just gl*** bead and shoot it on. 2-3 years and still looks good.
