chunk 40 I just went back to your first post and saw electronic ignition. might sound dumb but I just had the 454 in a buddys boat start doing the same thing, being on the water and not having many tools, we popped off the cap and found a chunk of burnt metal from the cap falling in and out from between the pickup and wheel. with a few deep breaths blew it out and prayed. lucky shot no more miss.
service life I was taught ment total milage on the part not the maintance milage , both grandpas had a a champion spark plug cleaner that used compressed air and held the silica in a bag ( remember those??) and would pull the plugs every other oil change and clean them up regap them and put them back in and would do it til the strap was too worn or the electode was almost in the shell, then take them out put them in the boxes of the new plug and then squirell them away in the eves of the garage ( when he died we took out almost 1000 plugs from the corners of the garage , my cousin almost was killed by the uncles and his dad when he threw a cigar box that had the old T type plugs with the screws on them in the trash can , he was forcably ejected from the garage after that , he didn't know what they were ) and I know what you mean about the plugs and alloy heads , I rather deal with a old iron head that sat outside rusted solid with a plug stuck in it as its easier to remove and several years ago I found out what happens when you use a old style plug with EFI , 10k and it was done . eroded the tip off the plug . same heat range as the stockers but wrong tip material . had to go back to the 9 buck ACD plug
well here is the compression test......left bank #!-65 #2-31 #3-95 #4-95......right bank #1-90 #2-95 #3-110 #4-110......so needless to say I think I need to do a valve job
Yep, I have had a similar experience, after busting my *** for about a week trying to chase down a miss in a buddies 327.
