I posted a thread requesting information about what might have gone wrong with my newly installed Hurst Compe***ion Plus shifter but it got deleted. WHY???? I tried responding to the PM that HAMB sent, but HAMB does not accept PMs. Catch 22???
Fastest would be asking here, I believe .http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?s=&daysprune=&f=6
I was also told to pm a mod but can't figure out how to find a mod via the mobile app. Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
Seems to be some very quixotic deletions lately-it's their ballgame, fine, but I wish there was more consistency. Hopefully you will get an answer.
I don't get some of the deletions either. This one that the OP is talking about could not be more traditional than a Hurst shifter IMO, and two threads about a car trailer got deleted. How do they think traditional drag cars get to the Billetproof and HAMB drags ? Yet, some stay that are obviously not in accordance with the new HAMB rules. Like you, I would just like some consistency and maybe an explanation or two so we know the next time. It seems like the mods pull the trigger sometimes just to err on the side of safety. Don
so Here ya go.... lol , if you go back to the main discussion board and scroll allllll the way down to the bottom of the page , the blue names under "moderators" and click on one of them. you can P.M. a Mod.
I'd just be happy if I got a clear reason why in the notification email. This last one I had deleted on me gave no reason, not even the broad "Off Topic". Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
No one 'owes' you anything. The joint is technically free. Did you try the three names of mods I gave you? And do remember it is Saturday night.
wanting an acceptable answer is a normal expectation. if nothing else, it's common courtesy. or it used to be. the other thing, it may be free of cost, but it's not free of rules. i'de better be quite now or i'll get a " you're free to move on" pm. I like it here to, but it's the like minded members.
Which one do I message? I don't know which one pushed the ****on. No they don't owe me anything. If I am not informed as to what I've done wrong I am bound to keep repeating the same action over and over again.
I find the new format very "busy" and quite irritating. I don't enjoy the H.A.M.B. as much as I used to. I wish the Ford V8 forum had more activity; I'd probably hang around there more. Also, I agree with everything Don says. I cannot believe the trailer brake thread was inappropriate in any way. I baffles me why it was deleted not once but twice. Everyone should know you don't screw around with success.
^^^^ What? click this link, it is the origonal HAMB just like it was before the changes. Traditional Discussion & Happenings
Fact is, it's a traditional message board and if your not traditional they couldn't care less if you're on here or not. I've learned a lot of things here and got banged around now and then, but to me, it's worth it and it's their thing. I was there and if ya didn't have 2 nickels to rub together you threw anything you could find on you ride to keep it on the road and lots of stuff wasn't used enough to be "traditional". Not all of the country had the same advantages that the left coast had. In a word, it's a great message board and worth the "pain in the ***".
A helpful hint that worked for me I use to get irritated - complain and probably nearly banned Then one day a few years ago I asked myself Why am I doing this ? Would I like it if someone was telling me how to run my business? I realized Things have always worked out and gotten better here over time for the most part so let them do their thing Then I went outside and built something ... for me my way
Yet, somehow it's not. It does seem a lot more cluttered and busy and I don't really want to spend the time looking at each board to find threads I want to join. Deleting one of my posts and sending me an PM note that it's Drama is fine-I knew it was when I posted it. But, closing/deleting threads that appear to be really relevant and on topic with no explanation only perpetuates the problem -if you don't know the mistake, how do you avoid it?
The threads I have had deleted, on reflection, were self explanatory. I do miss the rattle can marble one though.
When your post was deleted, you got a pm that stated why. You simply put your post in the wrong forum. Post it here: http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=60 You will be good to go. Thanks, Ryan
