Nice metal work Sander. I was wondering if your front suspension would have enough weight on it with the motor so far back? I have my motor in stock location with 3/4 ton springs and the suspension is still almost fully unsprung. Thinking of using 1/2-ton springs.

Great work! Your COE is going to be the best of the best.

Do you have any worries of dragging or hurting your rear panel latch handle on a steep driveway or a curb? If so, maybe a flush latch would be less prone to hitting something.

I really enjoyed the build, up until the point you worked in the tail lights. Then I was hooked. The pop of red and chrome really showed a glimpse of the finish. Keep up the great work!

  6. i think i am pretty spot on on the weight in front

thank you thank you  trying to do my best

the risk is low here in the netherlands our country is darn flat :)
but if it may happen i can always replace the handle for a new one

thanks already picked the colors but it will take some more work before that will happen.

today i have been working on the vent doors
making them vacuum controlled made a bracket for the actuators
and i will use a 5/3 valve under the dash to control them

Would like to know about your actuators and controls . On your gas tank did you use eighth inch tubing also and small tube that you cut and rolled 1x1 ?

  10. This is already one of the nicest COE's I have ever seen!

Nice work on the vents, nothing less than I would expect from you now. You have raised the bar. What are you plans for a compressor, electric or engine powered.?

Workmanship is prefect, Thread gets better with every post!!! Tim Jones

  14. i will post some more details on the actuators and controls when i have al the parts needed. i already had the actuators and made them work with the doors.
the gas tank is made of sheetmetal ? but if you mean the smaller tubing around the side and side doors thats 20x1.5mm or 3/4x 1/64 ish

i have a small electric compressor for an air horn that will go on the truck
so i can use the same source for these actuators

its a reproduction steering wheel of a 40s ford

This is an amazing awe inspiring build! I can not wait to see the finished product!!

  17. i have been playing with my air operated vent doors :)
got all the lines, reducers, cillinders and valve hooked up and works

its a pretty simple setup using a 5/3 valve (5 port 3 position valve)
the main source line goes to the input port
then from the 2 output ports it goes to the reducers
after each reducer it splits up and goes to both actuators
to operate both actuators in or out at the same time

also got the fenders and rear painted (and no its not the final color:) just a pre color before the final color goes on)

and adjusted the ramps so they wont hit the taillights

    its coming along nicely ...

keep up the good work ... =)

  21. the actuators are from festo type DGS-16-50 but available from any brand
they have a 2 inch stroke (50mm) and 1/8 ports
    http://www.festo.com/net/SupportPortal/Files/43099/DGS-.pdf

the 5/3 valve and reducers are also 1/8 ported
the lines i use ar 4 and 6 mm with push-in adaptors

we sell this stuff where i work so for me its easy to get it together
i could help you on the parts but shipping it overseas might make it expensive ?
just let me know if you need help ;)

Festo is one of the more costly brands over here, look into SMC a Japan Co., any industrial supplier should carry them.....

  24. Bimba is another brand.

Wow! Very nice. I've just started my '42 Ford COE 4-door / extended cab (not sure yet) tow vehicle project and I have to say, you've really inspired me!
Great job and keep up the extraordinary work! Very impressive.

If you need the special screws to put the door windows frames back together, I found them at Mac's. Let me know and I can locate the part numbers. Good luck finding the correct size bumper bolts. They are larger than 1/2". The originals were the same size as used on a AA Ford Truck.

Soo...is it going to be orange????? HA!
