The later Corvairs are cool as hell, especially with a V8 where the back seat was.

I just got a '65 Corsa with the 180hp turbo engine for free! It's a total basket case, but it's got a straight body with little rust. I plan to put it back on the road and then sell it to help fund my '31 Coupe.

There's a guy in town who drive one around all the time. Not a custom but restored. Thing looks pretty sharp! Its something different too and im my own opinion makes it that much cooler! Seen another one at a car show with a v8 stuffed under the hood (trunk) and that was cool to see

  14. Not a car that appeals to me. But it would beat the hell out of driving a kia to work!

Yes, you can do a lot of cool stuff with a Corvair. Old speed parts can be had cheap at swap meets, or bought new at Clark's Corvair Parts (no relation ) www.corvair.com

V-8 Corvairs are VERY cool, but not practical as a daily driver. But don't worry: you can get plenty of power out of the six.

I never gave them a second look until I spotted mine behind a guys garage, for whatever reason, it struck me as a cool car that day, I was also in need of something to replace teh K car I had at the time for a daily bomber, I hated that car. I have put a little over 15k miles on my 62 corvair, bone stock and really a pretty fun car. Gets just over 20 mpg. Drove it every day for a couple years. I don't plan to hot rod it, I have others for that, but it is a car that I enjoy alot. I think either early or late and you would enjoy it. The lates have a few updates that make them easier the modify, like 5 lug wheels, and most people prefer them over the early as far as looks.

Thats bad*** looking. Better have your ladies hair up in a bun. That would be cool as hell to have 4 IDA's singing in the back seat...

  20. I was at the Cambria, CA car show over Labor Day and a bunch of Corvairs showed up. One '69 ( think that was the year) had a twin turbo flat six that sounded killer. I see a lot of '67 Camaro design in them. I think they're cool.

The Corvair is the Camaro's Dady. The same design team that designed the 65 Corvair designed the Camaro.

You gotta really love a corvair, cause they're only worth so much when you go to sell, to make one nice you'll spend twice what its worth. I'm not just about the money, but you have to consider if you're keeping it a few years and moving on to a new project, or keeping it forever.

Due to the cut off date with the hamb I won't show a photo of the John Fitch Phoenix, but I added the link.

My late friend Fred Pearman worked for John and was involved with the design. HRP
