I'm looking to see if anybody knows of a "painless" way to convert a '55 Pontiac with a single-reservoir Master cylinder over to one with a dual-reservoir. Thanks!
Here's one option if it's manual brakes. An available bracket from Scarebird or make your own and the the mc called for to mount in the factory location. https://scarebird.com/index.php?route=product/product&path=63&product_id=123 For me I fixed a hanging pedal ***embly where the factory defroster was , not really a bolt on and takes some work.
I did the same on my 55. Used a 57 chevy pedal ***embly and m/cyl worked really well after filling the defrost hole.
Hi, Just put a dual MC into my 37 Cord project car. Had 1/8" to spare. My local welder guy made a new bracket for me to match all critical dimensions of the original, so all brake and clutch linkage alignments are unchanged. I'll put the adjustable proportioning valve in the location of the front/rear original Tee on the cross member behind the MC. Plumbing will be with modern NiCopp tubing. I consulted Jegs.com for input on the dual master cylinder to use. They also recommended using the adjustable proportioning valve. This was an easy conversion, and well worth the cost when considering the additional safety factor of having a dual system. --Tom The dual MC in its home:
