Super nice Hot Rod! Congrats to Dave & a big thanks to George making it possible.

I've had the pleasure to see the coupe a few times, when you get a chance take your time to see all the modifications. Build pics @ fastlane hot rod website,

    Bob

I think George holds at least one of every major car award. Proof that nice guys finish FIRST!

Cool. I like it when wealthy guys don't get bashed for having a car built. Now, if that could apply to regular guys, everything would be full circle.

George is a patron of the arts having put a number of skilled builders who were relatively unknown on the map over the years.

I got a surprise in 1998 at Goodguys in Plesanton when I toddled down a line of cars and right in the big middle of the line with the rest of the cars was Sniper (not Hamb frendly) sitting there in the line with people and baby buggys milling around. No special area parking or ropes or any of that crap, just another car in a line of cars. That earned a lot of respect for the man from me.

    Beautiful car. Who is Gus?

  18. Goodgus is the Traditionally "Styled" Hot Rods (i.e., HAMB-friendly) division of the Goodguys Rod & Custom Association.

It was named in honor of Gus Meadors (Gary's older brother) who ran his AV8 roadster on the dry lakes in 1939, '40, & '41 ... Gus was a WWII vet stationed in Europe ... who after the war, married a French girl and never returned to the United States.

NOTE: The "Goodgus" division of Goodguys was originally limited to "Period Perfect Hot Rods" ... but the bean counters @ GG headquarters quickly realized that there are actually very few 100% period perfect traditional Hot Rods, so they altered the criteria for membership to include traditionally-styled Hot Rods.

Then again, maybe I made all of that up ... and Tri-Deuce-Dicky just made a typo in his title! :D

Even if you made that up it sounds good enough to institute. :)

Love that 32 Chrysler, everything about it but the wheels. Talking about George Poteet, he has a great sense of humor also. Visit his website www.cameltoeracing.com

Would love to see more pics of that '35 Ford Pickup if anyone has a link.

  22. This is the same story that was relayed to me...

  23. I met David Lane for the first time this past year at the West Coast Nats... very nice guy.

We walked around this car a few times and he pointed out some details. The car is very deserving.

Congrats to all involved. No disrespect intended, but I dig the styling of the other 4 finalists better. They are less street roddy looking/more traditionally styled.

Dave Lane's quality is unbeatable! All the cars were cool, but one stood out.

  28. Here's a few culled from other H.A.M.B. threads:

  29. Sorry about the typo, but I think I like Hemi32's explanation!
