Guys...have the T Roadster home now and going thru the various systems I'm thinking I might like to revert to rear drums instead of the discs there now.
My reasoning being for looks and for a more effective/simpler handbrake setup.
The rear end is I THINK a late 70's Trans-Am WS6 10 bolt ***embly which had Discs from the factory.
Are factory backing plates and drums a simple swap on this rearend or are there other changes for Disc use that make it difficult?

The handbrake is thru the calipers...not inside the rotor hat so I'm thinking it might be possible.

Also...does this WS6 10 bolt Posi setup use a normal gear set or something special?

It has 3.40 something gearing and I'd like to go to 3.00 or even 2.75 for highway driving.
With 2100# and the current 454 it really doesn't need much gearing to get it moving...but it could definately use less RPM on the highway!

    Thanks!

Bill it's a 8.5 ring gear 10 bolt ...should not be hard to find a set of 3:08s they were the most common . The side axles are thinner for discs but you should be able to bolt on a set of backing plates off a camaro or trans am 70-81 . You probably would be better off just finding a core to change axles and backing plates plus getting all the hand brake hardware . Scott manning might have one . Very simple switch just need the parts .

The axles are actually different? Because of the rotor thickness???
    Thats weird.
I'd have figured they might just use a longer stud.
    I don't know Scott...

Maybe I will just put an ad in the local cl***ifieds later this week.
I have an S10 rear axle here that I was hoping might offer up the backing plates, but I haven't measured the mount holes or anything yet.
Not even sure on the drum diameter at this point!
