What stock fan would provide the best air flow, CFM , cooling for a car with AC. I plan to use a Shroud. And a thermostatic fan clutch. Is a 5 blade better than a 7 ? Or is a 6 blade the best. I'm going to ditch my flex fan. I've found an 88 Dakota 7 blade. But also have seen 318 trucks with 5 blades.
I have been running a 7 blade Cadillac fan and clutch on my 360 in the Plymouth for years. As HRP said, the bigger the better.
The reason I'm asking is that mopar performance sells a kit that has a clutch and a 5 blade fan. kind of makes me think that a 5 blade might pull more air ? Unless it just ads more HP (which I really am not after/ want the most cooling.)
Nah, I looked at that years ago when I did it. & has more area than 5, so it will move more air. Being here in Phoenix, my car has to deal with being high compression, aluminum headed, air conditioned AND 115-120 degree days all at the same time. With my Caddy fan, a huge universal stock car radiator, and a well made shroud it's mission accomplished on all fronts. The fan I have came from a late eighties Caddy Sedan Deville. It was about 20.00 at the u-pullit.
1958 pontiac had extra blades for ac and continued to do that i think 7-blades summit have a simular i put it on my 1957 pontiac flex-a-lite 40 dollar from15 inch to 19inch all steel fan is not on pictures but i can take one ken sweden
