Technical What do you call this steering mechanism?

Just wondering if anyone could help me out here? I would like to know what you call this steering mechanism and if you could explain how it works and just give me some knowledge of what it is exactly.

The Schroeder steering setup that Hotroddon showed the link to is what they are modeled after. There are a couple of threads on here on how to use Car or pickup steering boxes to do your own setups without the race car box.
