About to install a clutch / pressure plate in my 56 Chevy 2 door Sedan. 327 with a solid lifter cam and 4.11 rear gear. I drive it a lot so, light to moderate pedal pressure is what I'm looking for. What is everyone happy with.

  2. I am running a Centerforce 11" clutch, pressure plate and steel flywheel in my Willys and I'm really happy with it. it has counterweights to give lighter pedal pressure. Not light pedal pressure but normal pedal and high performance clutch.

Thanks, I've leaning toward the Centerforce II. Which one are you guys using?

I bought a Luk/Schaeffler pressure plate kit for my 464 Falcon. I ordered the kit for a LS7 454 Chevelle, and it came with clutch disc, diaphragm pressure plate, bronze bushing, and throwout bearing in 11". The kit was under $200, and I'm very happy with it. The pedal pressure isn't light, but not so heavy that it can't be held easily at stop lights.

I installed a TKO600 in my avatar with a RAM Clutch Kit: 10 spline Diaphram 10-1/2" pressure plate with organic disc. Very easy on the leg and grabbed enough for street use.

That's exactly what I'm doing(TKO 600). So did you have to cut the trans tunnel or just a little hammer m***aging?

My '56 DelRay had a huge jagged hole from other floor shifters. Had to fix that first. Then had to make a new hole for the TKO600. I used the center location for the shifter to clear the stock bench seat. The hole is designed to allow removal of the TKO without having to pull the motor. After the install I covered the hole with Eckler's transmission tunnel repair panel which raise the tunnel height slightly to clear the TKO. Made the panel removable by fastening it with nut rivets.

Ok thanks Cerberus, appreciate the info on the TKO tunnell mod.

One more thing since I jacked my own thread. Is that removable panel on the forward part of the trans hump for accessing bellhousing bolts and is that a stock feature that I should have on mine?

Yes. The removable panel is stock and does allow access to the upper BH bolts. Also, here is a picture of the panel attached with nut rivets.

I thought I knew everything about my '56, great to learn new stuff! That trans panel is very clean, I'll do the same with mine.
    Thanks again

I use a McCleoud steet/strip clutch and I was very unhappy. Pedal pressure was terrible for sitting in Southern California traffic. I should have gone with the Centerforce dual friction set-up.

I put LUK in everything when the time comes.

Mostly cuz they are local, I have picked up at their Valley City location often, and know the guys, they do good work.
